Earthen Oven at The Fortune Select Excalibur Gurgaon has started a culinary journey to the hinterlands of Punjab with their Punjabi Food festival, Pind Da Swad. With food that has a typically robust flavour, Punjabi food has been thoroughly misinterpreted in Delhi. This is where the eccentric genius of Executive Chef Inder Dev and Masterchef Bashir comes in. Being a Punjabi himself, Chef Dev is totally immersed in his elements and recreates his tastes from childhood.
The festival is being hosted at their effervescent Indian restaurant, Earthen Oven with an ambience that takes you back to the pinds of Punjab. Replete with a desi dress for the waiters and Punjabi music, the experience is your trip through the lush green Punjab. The menu is large and has some really interesting twists. Start off with either a Masala Chhas or good old Sugarcane juice with a lemon. We bring you the 5 Punjabi dishes that you must try out at this festival.
Amritsari Machchi: One of Amritsar’s most famous dishes, this fish tikka with flavours of Ajwain is a must for an authentic Amritsari experience.
Murgh Hari Mirch Ke Tikke: The super silken Chicken Tikka marinated with green chili without a load of spice.
Murgh Makhani: A simple chicken curry which last a mark on our palate without heading off to complexities.
Dhaabe Di Tadka Dal: You have had dal and then you will have this Dal. Perfectly flavoured with robust spices, a mixture of 3 daals gives it a taste that will resonate on your palate.
Rara Gosht: The succulent pieces of mutton marinated and cooked in a load of dry spices that leave a mark on your palate.
Try these with the rustic Makke ki Roti and Missi ki Roti. Finish off with some love from the Pinds on Punjab in the form of Pinni and Panjiri. The menu is a killer deal priced at INR 999++ with a single measure of IMFL and festival runs till 24th April.
