The Backyard has been relaunched as The Yard where you can enjoy stand-up comedy, techno nights and star performances. This place is perfect for those people who want to enjoy fine dining way far from the bustle of the nearby Hauz Khas Village yet near it. One is welcomed with a warm lively ambience and the wooden décor is such a stealer. The music playing inside the café cum bar is pleasing to the ears and EDM lovers can have a blissful experience at the special techno nights. The rooftop seating is done even more beautifully and that is where you would want to be. Among the largest rooftops in South Delhi, The Yard completes the idea of a near perfect rooftop experience.

THE OLD AND NEW

They welcomed us with The Yard favourites and we weren’t disappointed. The Devil Wears Prada is sure to catch your attention with first the presentation and then the taste. Red chillies have been placed strategically on the edge of the cocktail glass to make it look like a devil. Initially the drink seems very spicy but after a while becomes enjoyable as the taste buds get used to the flavours. The Dark Sin is a devious concoction of vodka, coffee liquor and bailey’s espresso. Call it the vodka coffee. Kaffir Lime and Apple Martini was a refreshing drink but the taste of the liquor got a little lost among the other flavours. The Green Garden Mocktail was another refreshing drink with fresh kiwi, rose water and mint leaves topped with soda. The drinks menu also boasts of the widest selection of beers.

Coming to the food menu, it has undergone major changes but some of the older dishes have been retained. From the specially curated menu for that day, the Frilly Prawns and Garlic Chicken Tikka were our absolute favourites. Full points for the presentation and the taste.Frilly Prawns were presented in small chai glasses wrapped up in bhujia with a tasty dip. Bhujia also added a nice flavor.Garlic Chicken Tikka was like malai tikka and the chicken pieces were juicy.

Curry Dumplings Chicken was flavourful bathed in a delicious dip. The comfort food got a lot better with a touch of curry. Hangover Basket was an assortment of Onion Rings, Masala Fries and Jalapeno Cheese Balls. These were a regular affair.

From the ‘Big Plates’ which may also double up as the main course, Grilled Chicken and Cottage Cheese with Cajun Rice impressed us the most. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the cottage cheese version would be received well by the vegetarians. Mezze Platter veg which consisted of falafel and cheese with mini samosas accompanied by the dips (tzatzi ki, muhhamara, hummus) is also worth giving a try.
