As Jamie Oliver opens his third flagship restaurant chain in Subhash Nagar, Pacific mall, it’s a treat for all Delhiites. The NCR was lucky to first get the restaurants and the chain will soon expand to other regions. It features Jamie’s own dishes from across his restaurants worldwide but specially chosen to suit the taste buds of people here. The entire concept has been developed by Jamie yet has nothing foreign in it. The Pizzeria offers a comfortable and homely kind of feel with the street lamp shaped bulbs and funky graffiti showing the nitty gritties of the Delhi life. The walls are decorated by the chef’s pictures and a bookshelf on the side wall displays his books for sale! The Pizzeria offers a simple menu with pizzas, salads, sides, desserts and drinks. There are talks of expanding the drinks menu to include mocktails as well. The delicious yet affordable food is plated beautifully and enchants the senses visually.

Staying true to the Italian cuisine, the dishes feature tomatoes and chillies in huge quantities. The patient and friendly staff served us well. The most commendable feature of Jamie’s Pizzeria is a dedicated children’s menu which stands by the vision of providing healthy and wholesome meal for children without compromising on the taste. Some of the contents of children’s menu are Small Margherita, Basil Pollo, Paneer Pomodoro Pizza, Salad and Fresh Juice. The cutlery and crockery is neatly displayed on the walls and the open kitchen is there for all to see.

The dough is freshly prepared everyday and the stock of ingredients is replenished every 1-2 days. Beautiful stoned baked pizza with big flavours and fresh ingredients is what they promise and exactly the same was delivered. We started with the Hand- stretched Garlic Bread with garlic butter, rosemary and an olive tapenado dip. The garlic bread was fresh and crunchy and the olive tapenado with sun dried tomatoes heightened the taste even further. The Chilly Chicken wings were too spicy but the yoghurt nutrilized the spice. The iced tea complemented the chicken wings well. Next came the Chicken Caeser Salad and the Marinated Feta and Watermelon Salad. The Chicken Caeser Salad tasted nice whereas the watermelon salad was amazingly fresh and flavorful. Watermelons are my personal favorite. The marinated feta absorbed the flavours of ginger, chilli and mint. Thus a hint of these remained balancing the sweetness and the pungent taste.

Coming over to the pizzas, we tried the White Rocket, Chilli Freak and Red Rocket pizzas. All of them were thin crust pizzas with less cheese and were not overflowing with toppings like normal pizzas. The White Rocket stood out with its neat layout of mozzarella, mature cheddar, ricotta, vegetarian parmesan, rocket and red chilli. The Chilli Freak (chilli sauce, tomatoes, jalapenos, vegetarian parmesan, chilli and mint) blew our senses. It was like a mini chilli explosion with every bite you took. The Oven baked Pasta dish with tomatoes and mozzarella was savoury.

The oven baked vegetraian pasta was delicious. We ended our meal with the Epic Chocolate Brownie and Affogato (vanilla ice cream drowned in hot espresso). Both of these tasted heavenly.

Chef Jamie has seamlessly integrated both the cuisines. We are desperately waiting for the home delivery service to start so that the same amazing experience can be enjoyed at home. The place is perfect for a nice meal and lovely conversation complemented with great music.
