Sector 29 market surely surprises if you visit the area after a gap of 3 or 4 months because within this time frame there will be a few restaurants or pubs which will sprout up to enlighten the dining scene here. Talli Singh is a brand new such bar cum restaurant which threw open its doors with style around a month back. A project by Mr Jai Batra and celebrity Chef cum food designer Mr Bobby Chikara who operate the popular Dewan chain of restaurants in the United States of America. The catchy name of the restaurant is jointly inspired by the Symbol of Johnnie walker whiskey brand and Keshto Mukherjee , the iconic bollywood actor who was popular for his drunken comic acting in old bollywood movies.

The name Talli Singh might sound pleasantly quirky but the ambiance and the décor of the restaurant is as classy as it can get. Spread on 2 floors, the 2500 square feet semi dim lit area has an extremely relaxing vibe. The ground floor has a bit of sofa sitting with a nice looking show kitchen and a garden area just at the entrance. The basement adorns a beautiful looking huge bar with some table sitting and a private dining area at the back suitable for group gatherings.

One must not miss the signature cocktails from the bar menu. The head mixologist Mr. Kapil Singh Thapa who has tons of experience from top bars of the Middle East and Europe has crafted some great signature cocktails. In our interaction with him he stresses that a good cocktail should have a better taste than the kick it gives and that can only be possible when the ingredients are fresh. That’s why he uses minimal syrups in his cocktails. We tried some of them starting with THE COINTREAUPOLITAN, a fluorescent coloured drink blended with cointreau, cranberry juice garnished with a swirl of lemon zest. The HONG KONG DRAGON was a refreshing mix of vodka, orange juice with a touch of spice. The desi touch of the BEETEL SMACK MOJITO too was excellent. It was an interesting concoction of gulkand with vodka nicely garnished with a paan leaf. The show stealer amongst the cocktails was THE ESPRESSOTINI which was recommended to try at the end of the cocktail session. Kahlua, vodka and chocolate syrup blended and served in big martini glass garnished with roasted coffee beans, was combination executed to perfection.

The food menu designed by Chef Bobby is very balanced with some global dishes. We enjoyed the PRAWNS TEMPURA, NAANZA and THE MALAI TIKKA with CHOOR CHOOR NAANS as starters. A must try dish at The Talli Singh is the MEE GORENG from the main course section. An Indonesian specialty with fried noodles mixed with chicken, topped with half fried egg having a unique sweet taste. Rounding off the meal with desserts the nutty and juicy, RAS MALAI and CHOCO LAVA CAKE with ice cream we concluded with our senses subtly pampered and palate totally satisfied.
