The scene of partying out in the nights has been changing over the last few years. The nightclubs and discotheques had given away to restaurants, especially the ones located near the Hauz Khas Fort. With the advent of Hauz Khas came it’s own set of problems. Long jams along with rowdy behavior became commonplace due to the burgeoning crowds. The next lifesaver in Delhi’s nightlife is Gurgaon. Places such as Sector 29 and DLF Cyber Hub are becoming the new hotspots in town. From the company that brought us Sutra, recently unveiled their latest brainchild “Factory by Sutra”. A fresh concept that brings together the joys of a pub, brewery and a co- working space to Gurgaon for the very first time.image

The ground floor is the home to their brewery, with big copper tanks full of your favourite lager is on display. The first floor has an indoor dining space with a live DJ station and the terrace seating area captures the essential charm of Gurgaon specially during the evening.

Food Talks

The menu has been really smartly designed keeping in mind the popular dishes in Gurgaon which comprises of a significant portion of world cuisine. As we settled, we were greeted by the tasting shots of their freshly brewed beer- Lager, German Wheat, Belgian Red Ale, Irish Black. The Lager consisted of a mild and a malty aftertaste, while the German Wheat had a fermented flavour with a sour after taste note. My favourite being the Irish black as it is very rare to get a good black beer in India as people still don’t connect well with it.image

We started with watermelon and feta cheese salad. Watermelons are my personal favorite. The marinated feta absorbed the flavours of ginger, chilli and mint. Thus a hint of these remained balancing the sweetness and the pungent taste. Following it was the kurkure bhindi nachos which gets full marks for it’s innovation. Basically not a typical fusion dish as explained by the chef it is a simple dish consisting of crispy fried bhindi masala which is served with mint yoghurt and keeps you asking for more. The main highlight of the meal was undoubtedly their signature dish “Delhi 6” which beautifully captures the essence of the street food served in Old Delhi. Stuffed golgappas with bhel puri and topped with aloo tikki is a sure delight to your tastebuds.

For the mains we tried their Pepperoni pizza. The crisp pepperoni sprinkled on top of melted cheese will tangle on your taste buds and give you an authentic Italian encounter. Following it was the Veg Quesadilla. The Veg Quesadillacombines the crunchiness of bell peppers with the earthy taste of beans in a wondrous combination. Some sour yogurt and a spicy sauce just increase the complexity of flavours.

In a nutshell, Next time when you are looking for a space to have an informal office gathering or to spend quality time with your loved ones. Factory by Sutra scores to be your destination. Their menu, which offers a mix of interesting flavours coupled with original drink mixes. The craft beers are a clear win, and what makes it better is the ambience.
