The heritage and tradition of the Embassy established in 1984 comes to Janakpuri with The Embassy Mini. The place can be found tucked behind the Satyam Cineplex with an updated look and a modern feel. Having served more than three generations, it is now ready to serve the fourth one and ensure that its loyalists do not miss the old favourites. With legacy so vast, the 3rd generation entrepreneur Mr. Kumar Savar Malhotra has joined the business after his global hospitality experience and plans to expand embassy’s legacy globally. It is definitely a trip down the memory lane as one gets the tastes of colonial india and the ancient recpes have not been altered despite the other changes.
The place has a cosy ambience. Another welcoming change was the absence of blaring music. The staff is very polite and courteous and told us about the specialties. One is spoilt for choice but we decided to go for these select dishes. We had Mutton Seekh Kebab which is mince baby lamb with chillies, coriander, ginger and cooked in the tandoor. They were soft and flavourful. Next up we had the Hara Bhara Kebab, every vegetarian’s go to dish when they crave kebabs and complimented best with green chutney.
From the drinks menu, we chose the Chocolate Shake and Italian Smooch which is a refreshing mix of lemon chunks and brown sugar muddled together topped with coke.
For mains again it was quite a task to choose the dishes. Just reading the names made our mouth water. Finally settling on the Mushroom Do Pyaza, Malai Kofta, Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh, we were eagerly waiting for the food to arrive. One has to wait a little but after seeing the food the waiting period doesn’t hurt. The sumptuous meal arrived with huge Butter Naans and we quickly got to business. I am not a huge fan of mushrooms but I liked the mushroom dish nonetheless. The beautiful preparation is cooked in mild piced gravy with chunks of spring onions. The Malai Kofta is something one should not miss which was of just the right flavours. The cashewnut, onion and yoghurt gravy was rich in texture. The Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh were finger licking good with the meat chunks being succulent. Both the dishes are highly recommended.
The food and drinks menu is diverse and the portion size is more than sufficient. We ordered quarter portions of everything and still had to fight for space in our stomachs.Plus points for the presentation of the food. We ended the hearty meal with the Embassy style Gulab Jamun which is one of the tastiest I had in a while.
The Embassy has gained legendary status and one can now get the same experience at this new establishment. The place is small but the offerings are huge.
