Being a designer myself, I understand how important “presentation” is and when a restaurant concentrates on the same, it just simply wins my heart. I believe we feed with our eyes first and then with our tummy. I can happily say my “Number 8” visit, left me quiet contended. Situated in the dead market of Sunder Nagar, this place is quiet a happy sight. As I entered the black building with a shinning golden sign, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful chandelier on the first floor.

The restaurant spreads over 3 floors. The first floor is more of a formal/fine dinning space, second floor is the bar and the third floor is an open terrace. All three floors are quiet uniquely conceptualized yet the designer has done a fabulous job keeping the theme same and giving it a royal and chic look-more like a “gentlemen’s club” look and feel.
We sat on the second floor, near the bar. Our chef & host of the day was Pradeep Jugran. He laid out a beautiful 5 course meal for me and my friend, and each dish was a work of art on my plate.
We were served coolers while we waited for our food. One was watermelon cooler and the other was a mango based cooler. Both were highly refreshing and an apt choice for a hot summer afternoon. My first course was a vegetable money bag and a vegetable satay. A mix of vegetables packed in a crispy crust, the combination of crispy crust with freshly filled veggies tasted absolutely fabulous. The satay was something that enjoyed quiet a lot. The sauce on top of the satay complimented the veggies really well. This dish is best enjoyed when eaten in one full bite, if you eat veggies separately, it does not taste that good.
Second course was Vegetable Tom Yum soup. Loved the gravy of the soup. Though the soup portion was quiet huge and I could not finish but I absolutely loved the dish. Next we were served Quinoa Salad followed by Rocket and Wine Poached pear salad. I personally enjoyed the pear salad more. The freshness of rocket salad with crunchiness of nuts topped with fresh feta cheese.
Our fourth course was a chef special Number 8 Wild mushroom and red wine risotto. This dish is a MUST! If you are a risotto person, you’ll absolutely enjoy this dish. The risotto was cooked to an absolute perfection. We were also served Vegetarian filo pastry sheet. The dish in itself was quiet unique, there were three different textures to the dish and all the textures worked really well in complete harmony.

Now came my favourite course, the dessert. Those who follow my blogs, would be knowing I am NOT a dessert person but Chef Pradeep Jugran somehow made me finish a whole plate of dessert and trust me the serving was not small. We were served 2 desserts, first was a  Flourless chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, cocoa crumble and dark chocolate ganache and the second one was baked cheesecake, lemon curd, oatmeal crumble and raspberry sorbet. Personally I enjoyed the chocolate cake more but my friend enjoyed the baked cheesecake more (sorted, no sharing :p). Loved the raspberry sorbet served with the cheesecake, I was going for seconds and thirds, it was so refreshing and delicious.

Absolutely loved my experience here and would be coming back soon to try some more of Number 8.
