Created with every possible piece of junk one can think of, the Junkyard Café is one quirky place in Rajouri Garden surely to give you a food and drinks overload. After a successful start in Connaught Place, the Big Fish Ventures group owned by Umang Tiwari launched the second one in the bustling area. The ambience needs a special mention. One does not feel like sitting in any regular café but an artist’s workshop. The place explodes with creativity and out of the box thinking: motorcycle parts turned into a robot, waste glass bottles for ceiling lights, bicycle wheels as wall decorations, car bonnets for sofas, drawers for pillars and the list goes on. A very careful and observant eye is needed to absorb in the place.

The menu features nutritious meals with paraphernalia of flavours at reasonable prices. Calories are stated against most of the food items so that the health conscious people can decide their dish. The drinks menu is full of unusual concoctions. We started with a few coolers and drinks. We were very eager to try the Edison Bulb which has already gained huge popularity amongst the masses. The drink arrived in a bulb shaped container surrounded with beautiful white smoke. Others were Metal Bender, Maple Wood Salvage Fluid, Peanut Butter Milkshake. Maple Wood Salvage Fluid is recommended while the others were a little sweet.

The beautifully plated Chilly Chicken arrived. Juicy chicken pieces topped with caramelized onion, capsicum and chillies and beside lay the colorful salad. The Tandoori Prawns with mayo were crunchy on the outside with soft insides. The Chicken Malai Tikka was finger licking good and is highly recommended.

The main course began with Laal Maas (lamb cooked with Rajasthani Red Chilli Paste and Indian spices). The gravy was thick with subtle flavours and the lamb pieces were juicy. We enjoyed the meal with Butter Naan.

Thai Red Curry with Steamed Rice was flavourful. The Chicken Pizza had a neat layout with chicken pieces standing out in the entire dish. One of the more simpler thin crust pizzas in the menu with a distinct flavor, it looked well on a fish shaped bottom. The quantity of the dishes was also adequate. For dessert we had Brownies with Ice Cream.
