My alarm goes off at 6 o’ clock in the morning. I get off quite groggily having worked till 1 in the morning chasing up a deadline. Although I am on a supposed vacation in God’s own country Kerala, the truth is I have been overworked beyond recognition. I start off the morning with a check of the social media channels. The night had accumulated quite a bit of posts from my friends traveling all over world and I sit down to like and comment on Facebook and Instagram.
The next order of the day is checking the schedule for the day. We are going on a tea trail today and will be covering a tea garden, a 150 year old Tea Factory and a tea tasting back at our hotel, Windermere Estate. Even before breakfast, I have started typing up a new article that needs to be sent out pronto to his editor at one of the print magazines he writes for. I like to use the Qwerty keyboard to swiftly move across my screen creating magic.
The real test of my phone comes through the day actually. Not only am I planning to click a plethora of images through the day, my photographer girlfriend Snigdha plans to edit them and post them online keeping their readers enthralled. Bloggers love to talk about the kind of DSLRs they are using but the phone camera is something that I love the most. It allows me to be mobile without lugging a heavy weight on my shoulders. The recently released InFocus smartphone is going to have an awesome camera which will definitely help me on my travails.
In between traveling from the tea garden to the tea factory, I replies to a littany of emails that have accumulated in my inbox. It includes requests from various brands along with his correspondence with the editors. I also check up on the blog as my team mates have left me a few drafts to check upon. A quick change here, a SEO check there and the article is ready to be published.
The afternoon descends on Munnar as we head back to our hotel and this is when the phone starts ringing. The PRs usually contact me between the 3-5 PM and I rattle off a series of queries directed at me. Another session of photography, edition and more social media ensues before he has his dinner and decides to turn in for the night. This is where a big battery smartphone comes handy. A good battery is very important to continue your work through the day. With a lot of my earlier phones, the battery used to run out just as I saw something worth capturing at the end of the day. This is where the new phone from Foxconn makes it’s impact with it’s big battery life. The soon to be launched smartphone from Foxconn is going to be one of the best smartphones below INR 10,000.
But before turning in I plug my phone into the charger to rejuvenate and thank it for being a faithful companion on this crazy journey. Sometimes, I feel that I love my phone more than my girl but I am too sleepy to think about it now.
