The history of sushi in Japan began around the 8th century. The original type of sushi was first developed in Southeast Asia as a means of preserving fish in fermented rice. For almost the next 1100 years until the early 19th century, sushi slowly changed and the Japanese cuisine changed as well. We received two assorted sushi platter from Sushi Junction. Starting off with the non vegetarian platter, It had California roll which is a classic American fusion sushi. It had a classic taste of sweet overlapping the saltiness of soy. After it was the Salmon Maki, which had the bit of bitterness and was wrapped in a nori (seaweed). The Chicken tori karage stood out to be the main highlight. It was crunchy and had a great mixture of ginger, garlic and soy sauce which gave it a lip smacking taste.

Moving on to the Assorted Veg platter, we tried out the veg version of the California roll. Next to it was the plum and cucumber Umekyu. It had a very unique flavour. The pickled plum had an acidic flavour and sweetness to it. Combine that with the cucumber and it’s a nice tasting simple roll for vegetarian and beginners alike. But the main highlight for us was the Oshinko roll, it had pickled radish which gave it a strong flavour. Order in some for yourself, you Sushi lovers.
