Little Tibet or Mcleod Ganj has already won over my heart with it’s laid back attitude. As the extended Independence weekend got over and the hordes of Punjabi and Jat invaders left town, the sleepy hamlet went back to it’s previous beauty. The water lashed Jogiwari Road extended in from the Main centre of Mcleod Ganj houses a plethora of restaurants ranging from Israeli to Japanese. One of the most beautiful of these places is Lung Ta. A small warm Japanese café that serves out vegetarian Japanese food. A family run business, Lung Ta is patronised by essentially the foreign crowd. With book shelves lining the wall along with traditional Japanese eating places, this place is perfect for whiling away time in the sleepy hamlet of Mcleod Ganj. .
The Kombuchaa is something that we try for the first time. Green tea fermented along with some Soda water is a perfect way to substitute an alcoholic drink. The Green tea also offers a perfect way to clear your body out of toxins before a meal. We do try out his Okonomiyaki and Udon Noodles with Batter fried vegetables. Although the only Okonomiyaki we have had before has been at the hands of Chef Tanveer Kwatra, but this one runs him pretty close. Priced at INR 100, it’s a steal. The Batter fried veggies in the soupy flat Udon noodles provides a perfect balance of crunch and slimy in the same place. Although the flavours are typically subtle Japanese but it’s something that even my vegetarian friends can wolf down in quantities. Next time you are in Mcleod Ganj, do try this cafe out.
