GK-1, N block has always been an up scale market area of South Delhi, flocked by an elite clientèle. It has had its share of lounges, cafes, bars and restaurants which have been opening, over a span of time. Pamphilos, a brainchild of Yasheel Anand and Sourav Deshwal, which opened a few days back is the latest addition to the dining culture of this area and has a contemporary bistro style setting with a chic décor, will certainly uphold the charm of this market.

Spread on 2 floors, the ambiance is something which will make you fall in love with the place instantly. The first floor is a dimly lit quaint space with simple yet classy look. The walls adorn a couple of beautifully drawn lady portraits with focus lights and a swanky bar in one corner. There is not much sitting on the first floor, so it certainly does not looks cramped up. The terrace is beautifully done and honestly speaking, I don’t remember seeing such a romantic setting anywhere in the city in recent times. The covered terrace has been given a rustic look with a combination of plants in colourful pots and a white and ivory background. The place certainly comes beautifully alive in the evening with the dim light given by the hanging lanterns. The seating area on the terrace is ample with plush multicoloured and printed sofas and also is an attached covered area for private parties which can accommodate up to 40 people.

Once you are done with visual treat of the décor of the place, the focus shifts on the food and beverage. The menu is simple with a little bit of experimentation. There is a range of classic and house cocktails and the bar is very well stacked. The food menu boasts of world cuisine and is very balanced. I started off with a super refreshing cocktail, THE SMOOTH OPERATOR. Beautifully presented in a champagne tulip was a concoction of white wine, lime juice and ginger ale. THE OLD FASHIONED, was classically mixed with a twist in the presentation. It was served in a copper plated mug and was perfectly chilled.

We did not experiment much with the food and went with the chef’s recommendations. THE CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP and THE CAESAR SALAD were the perfect starters for our lunch. THE FALAFEL WRAP was moist and juicy. THE GARLIC MUSTARD PRAWNS and GRILLED FISH IN CAPER SAUCE were mildly spiced yet bang on flavours. THE VEGETARIAN PIZZA was crisply baked with loads of cheese and vegetables. We ended our lunch on a high note with some delectable deserts, the soft CHOCOLATE BROWNIE WITH ICE CREAM and sweet CRUMBED BANANA.

In a nutshell, Pamphilos which means friends of all is a café which will surely conquer many hearts and lives up to its name by having something for everyone.  A must visit to unwind and relax with your friends or family with delicious food and great atmosphere.
