Niche, simply means a comfortable place in life, likewise Niche- Bistro and Lounge justifies its name. The newest kid on the block is located in M block, outer circle of Connaught Place.
As soon we entered the place, the ambience just won us over. They have 3 different seatings with 2 of them being their outdoor seating. The outdoor seating on the front has nice view of the Statesman House building. Though if you are looking to spend some peaceful time with someone, go for their outdoor seating on the backside. The indoor seating is perfect for a concert or a party with a nice big stage been set up. The highlight of the indoor seating though is a nice functional chimney around which some comfortable sofas are placed to have a great cozy conversations. The interiors are very classy with plush chairs and the wooden flooring.
The Menu is very smartly designed and economically priced. They have an interesting bar menu which is comprising of their signature and some classic cocktails. We started with Chicken Arancini, which had a tangy essence of pickled beetroot espuma and was served along with crispy and lip smacking kale and parmesan chips. Following it was the French Onion Soup Rings. Sweet onions are battered in tempura and are fried till they turn golden and crispy. It is served with thick and rich broth which has an essence of onions in it. Pulled Pork Tacos are served with sweet barbecue sauce and sour cream. The texture and filling of the dish is just perfect. We, also tried some of their signature cocktails. Dillinger is a dill infused with Vodka with bay leaf giving it a long lasting after taste and cucumber and grapefruit along with mustard provides it a citric and sour taste. Honey Mustard sour on other hand is a perfect balance of flavour. Maker’s mark with honeycomb syrup and egg white comprises to form this lovely cocktail.
For the mains we tried the Pork Belly. The sweet fat of pork belly with a strong taste of peach is having an aftertaste of carrot and ginger. The dish is served along with pineapple chips. Following it was the Spinach and Corn Fettuccini. The thing which distinguished this dish from others was its presentation. We’ve never seen any restaurant using foam to garnish its dishes.
The main highlight of my meal was the Hari Saag. This dish had a saag curry along with some baby carrots and baby corns taking the dish to another level. The cheese balls placed in the centre tasted perfect with the saag. The perfect end to our meal was done with their signature dessert and cocktail. Daisy is their in-house signature cocktail. Chamomile Tequila with organic Chamomile Honey and Egg White the blend is a classic. Served in a Mark Jacobs perfume bottle gives an additional style to it. The flexible Ganache was their dessert of the day. Jelly, rabri, icecream, Orange flavoured foam, chocolate and what not to make you crave for more.
