New menus are always special. A plethora of new flavours give the restaurant goers something new to tantalize their taste buds with. Pan Asian at WelcomHotel Sheraton Saket, one of rare restaurants in Delhi to serve out Chinese food by specific regions is now revamping it’s menu for the second time since it’s inception. Executive Sous Chef Vaibhav Bhargava tells us his thought process behind the menu. He assures about the no-frills attitude of his cooking reflecting on the menu. Focussing majorly on piquing your taste buds with flavours, the menu is definitely something to look forward to. In accordance with his involvement with the Slow Food movement, the menu uses a lot of fresh local produce. Joining him is Chef Jian Wei Lee from Dubai who throws his massive weight of experience in Chinese food behind the menu.
Starting with a Tuna Tataki that explodes with the meaty flavours of the Tuna is in sharp contrast to the acidic nature of the sauces that envelope it. The Mango Sushi also rates highly among one of the better dishes on the menu with the sweetness of the Mango giving it a beautiful twist. The Prawn and Crab Toast makes for a succulent sweetness of flavours that will make you lick your fingers. The Prawn Hargao is a gush of fresh watery flavours as the prawns dissolves within your mouth. There are some Spicy Minced Chicken Cups that serves up a beautiful mix of Chicken in the crunch of a lettuce leaf. The Mushroom and Asparagus Dumpling also leaves a plethora of flavours with the earthy mushrooms combining like a dream with the sprightly flavours of the Asparagus.
A Chicken Katsu Curry and a vegetarian Pad Thai rounds up with the mains as we end up with a Family Dessert platter which consists of with a decadent toffee cake combined with a selection of ice creams. A few pieces of chocolate rolls along with fruits for a perfect ending to the evening. The menu is perfect for family outings with platters of food coming through allowing for something for everyone to eat. A few platters like the Prawn platter has different preparations of prawns on the same plate allowing you to taste a whole range of flavours.
