In mood to check out the newest hotspot in town, we zeroed upon Indigo and tried to book us a table. To my disappointment they were not entertaining any reservation past 8 PM and we decided to try our luck with a walk in. Finding this restaurant this popular should not really be a tedious task, but Indigo tests all your navigation skills to sort your way through some narrow lanes and busy roads. Finally we reached the place and were fortunate enough to get the table. The property is elegant and enormous and smartly divided into 3 sections the Bar , the fine dining and the outdoor seating space.
Food Talks
The journey started with a complimentary portion of Fig with cottage cheese. The flavours are so good on this one that we had to ask for repeats. Next to follow was extremely cold portion of Beef Carpaccio with Parmesan Chunks and to our disappointment it tasted like nothing. No flavour and no essence of any ingredient . Grilled King Prawns was nothing too great again but till I would consider it as the main highlight of the night because it was edible and my hungry belly and love for prawns urged me to finish the dish.
For Mains it was a disaster Saffron & Crab Meat Ravioli. the ravioli lacked the decent amount of crab meat we expected and to my surprise there was no hint of saffron in the dish. Instead all that could be made out was artificial food coloring.
The journey ended on the same lukewarm note as it was started . We ordered the White chocolate and Grand Mariner cheese cake and the Chocolate and Jalapeno fondant.
We were told that the fondant will take 20 minutes so we decided to choose a drink from the bar and sit in the outside area till the time our dessert is ready. First to arrive was the cheesecake, all drenched in sweetness and too messy. Although the sponge was complementing it , but the mascarpone cheese as I think they are using in it was not fresh at all.
Finally arrived the so called patronized star of the day, The Chocolate & Jalapeño Fondant. It was served too hot and the liquid chocolate flowing in the fondant did not compliment it and even the vanila ice cream served along with it failed to add any wonder to this dish.
I was flabbergasted that this is the same Indigo from Mumbai which is the brainchild of Mr Rahul Akerkar.
At a total cost of 10K with drinks and other taxes, this place is a mere illusion.
In a nutshell 3/5
