Fashion Weeks are organised to make the whole world know about the new collection of the designers. People wait desperately through out the seasons to witness an ultimate fashion drift from their favourite designers. And then there is Runway week. India Runway Week organised by The Indian Federation of Fashion Development (IFFD) takes place every year in the month of April and is not like any other Fashion Week. It is said to be an educational trade event to promote young and budding fashion designers and fashion startups in India. It seeks to gain business and recognition for the designers showcasing their talent. Team Salt and Sandals was fortunate enough to see for themselves if the future of fashion is in good hands. Well, trust us, it is.

Students of International School of Design presented their collection and we cannot stop drooling over it. The designs seemed much appealing since they were being displayed in a very professional manner. The models did more than justice to their respective outfits and strutted down the ramp  as it were a cake walk.

The first set of collection was based on white and ice blue colours. Satin drapes and silhouettes defined the collection. Back then it didn’t made sense when Julie Andrews used to say, “Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes” is one of her favourite things. Now, we couldn’t agree more. The whole collection was soothing, calming and eerily sexy. The models wore the perfect white accessories to top off the whole look.

The second collection was a fusion of Indian traditional embroideries with the English way of style. The outfits were accessorised with English hats made of rose mesh.

The third and the last set of collection was all about the colour of love – Red. Elegant sequinned gowns formed the highlight of the show. As the models sashayed down the ramp in diaphanous chiffon gowns, we were automatically transported to a ball evening where the the atmosphere was filled with the sound of violins and cupid waltzed to love. The showstopper for the show was the stunning make-up guru owner of her own chain of salons – Meenakshi Dutta who looked vivaciously beautiful in a high-low hemline floral print dress.

In short, we were completely blown away by the young talent and them with nothing but good luck for their future endeavours. More power to them.
