A heavy vermillion red door, greets you as soon as you enter the ground level of Crowne Plaza Tonk Road, Jaipur. Behind the giant door is the home to one of the best fine dining Chinese restaurant in Jaipur, rightly called ” House of Han”. The beautifully detailed decor of the restaurant provides you with a sense that have entered into a lavish Chinese household. The most engaging object you see here, is a traditional long Chinese teapot, usually referred to as a “long spout pot” or a “long-spout-kettle”, which is usually made of copper. As a part of Chinese tea culture and tea ceremony, the performance of long teapot is practical and highly ornamental. Hot water cools down naturally when flowing through the long spout, and reaches to the temperature suitable for sipping.

We started our meal with with Crystal Chicken Dumplings. Chunks of chicken with water chestnut in a translucent sheet. It has subtle taste for the people not looking to experiment too much with their dim sums. Next ,on our plate was Prawn Sui Mai. Crispy prawns wrapped in a wonton papper with an essence of ginger and garlic makes you a fan of these tiny, juicy and delicious dumplings. Deep fried onion rings had a perfect texture. It was crunchy from outside and juicy from inside. The green onions and and other spices made it a complete treat to our tastebuds. The Prawn spring rolls stood out to be the highlight of our meal and it was so popular that me and my colleagues had to re order them again. The veg wonton soup, which was an explosion of flavors in the mouth and quality and quantity of wonton was generous. The lotus stem kung pao style was a delight to palate. It was crispy and had a fiery and tangy taste.
After enjoying delectable appetizers we headed to try the mains. Prawn with black pepper sauce stood out to be the star. Garlicy and buttery shrimp in a savoury black pepper sauce was a decadent affair. Stir fried Chinese mix greens also invokes beautiful sensation on the palate. Combine them with their signature Bamboo Basket fried rice or vegetable noodles and you have meal that will satisfy your sense of taste.
We ended our meal on a sweet note with their signature Chocolate Almond Pudding. So next time you stand cursing in jaipur about the lack of authentic Chinese food, check into House Of Han and let chef Lou take you on an extravegant culinary journey.
