Ingredients

Prawns medium sized: 300 gms

Basmati Rice: 2 cups

Onions: 3 large sized

Green Bell Peppers: 2

Carrot: 2

Tomatoes: 1 large sized(chopped)

Green Chillies Chopped: 2

Garlic-Ginger Paste: 2 tsp

Cumin powder: 11/2 tsp

Turmeric: 1 tsp

Coriander Powder: 1 tsp

Powdered Chili: ½ tsp

Garam Masala: 11/2

Bay Leaves: 2

Salt to taste

Mustard Oil for cooking

Procedure:

  1. Clean and devein the prawns. Marinate with salt and turmeric.
  2. Wash the rice.
  3. Parboil the rice with water and salt. Drain the water
  4. Fry the chopped onions in oil. Put in the prawns and fry lightly. Pour in the garlic-ginger paste and add the masalas. Fry over medium heat for some time until the prawns turn opaque. Add the vegetables and fry for a minute. Add salt and Garam Masala
  5. Add half a cup of water.
  6. Add the parboiled rice to the mixture, cover and cook at low heat for 3 minutes.
  7. Stir the rice for 2-3 minutes and serve with Raita.
