The World Championship of Bartending is here. The World Class Bartender Championship organised by Diageo Reserve is topmost competition to judge the best Bartender in the world. In its ninth edition now, this year’s competition will be at Miami, USA. The final of the India’s leg will be held at Bangalore and will have 20 finalists. To get their finalists fine tuned for the big event, Diageo organises master classes for the finalists to showcase their skills and learn tricks.
One of these master classes was held at less than an year old Delhi Pavilion, Sheraton New Delhi. Under the tutelage of Brand Ambassador Daniel Jones, 6 of the finalists showcased their skills with the Pantry Challenge and Rapid Fire rounds. As Daniel put it “Bartending is as much about confidence and flair as it is about taste”, the mixologists from across the city mesmerised us with fire, skills and taste. Paired with some food by Chef Vaibhav Bhargava’s team, it was an event to remember. We bring you a few videos from the event to get you recipes of some delicious cocktails and a few tips and tricks of the trade.
First off, we had Daniel Jones using Indian spices to smoke up his glass followed by making his cocktail, Australian Blazer based around an Australian Shiraz Cabarnet.
Gaurav Dhyani from Grappa, Shangri La’s Eros Hotel cooked up his cocktail, Teaser.
Vikram Ku from the Blue Bar, Taj Palace Hotel
Dilbar Singh from Blue Bar, Taj Palace Hotel
And finally we had Rahul Chettri from ATM mixing his drink.
Let us know which cocktail do you like the most?
