What I don’t like about bartenders in Delhi is that they make cocktails sweet! Maybe its Delhites tastebuds or generally “sugar+alcohol” means getting drunk fast, whatever might be the reason, cocktails in Delhi are generally sweet. Recently a new trend began where a lot of posh restaurants started serving really bitter cocktails, in the name of “authentic non-sweet cocktails”. The minute you sip some of those, you might be left teary eyed (both literally and metaphorically). What really surprised me was- how well Cafe G, Connexions bar was able to honor both the sweet and bitter taste of cocktails without making either of the two tastes overwhelm the taste palette.

All the cocktails were curated by Asst. Bar Manager Mr.Vijay Sharma and were paired beautifully with Mexican dishes. I tried a lot of cocktails but I’ll only discuss the only which were my favorites of the afternoon.
Fresh ginger martini– Homemade gingerale mix, shaken hard with Pinky Vodka. It was the first drink that I had and on a Summer hot afternoon, gingerale is actually a boon. Since the gingerale was freshly made, it had the sharp, pungent and spicy aromatic taste to it. The gingerale was perfectly infused with Vodka- not too strong, not too light, just simply perfect.

Cadillac Margarita– This was definitely the star drink of the evening. Agave tequila shaken hard with fresh lime and a touch of grand marnier. Since there was a Mexican fest going on, we were served all Mexican nibbles which complimented the Margarita really well. I am a big big big fan of Presidential margarita of Chillis, this drink has made me re-think. Absolutely loved the Cadillac Margarita!!! Not too sweet, not too pungent, just simply perfect and the salt on the side, my type of heaven!!
p.s.:- this was the only drink that I actually finished, so you can imagine how good it was :p

Cadillac Margarita

Mango Margarita– Hearing the name of this drink, you might presume, this drink would be candy like sweet but Vijay had done a fabulous job of balancing the flavors of the drink without making it too boozy! Fresh mango, agave tequila, cointreau and lime juice served with ice, this drink was heaven. The soft pulpy texture of mango balancing the sharp taste of tequila with a light touch of cointreau.
Absolutely loved my boozy afternoon at Connexions, would be coming back soon to try more of their fabulous cocktails!
