Big, bold and beautiful is the theme for the restaurants/cafes opening up in CP in the last couple of years. Whatever place you visit, whether it is the Vault Cafe, Junkyard Cafe,Lord of the drinks or the most recent addition to the list – Café Public Connection, they all seem to be sparing no expense in dazzling the visitors with the enormous spacing, larger than life set up, out of the box designing and a great variety of menu.
Located in the inner circle of Connaught place; Block – F it is easily to locate it and being perfectly positioned right in front of one of the exits of Rajiv Chowk metro station. The concept of Café Public Connection seemed to me like a more colorful & quirky take of the owners on the concept of The Vault.
The place is modeled on the various modes of Public Communication over the years i.e. the topics people generally discuss which leads to them bonding with those sharing same interests as well as the mediums that helped people connect. Hence, you have private rooms with names like retro, sports, hollywood and industrial representing the former while the latter is shown by the way the whole place has been designed using telephones, chips, radios etc to adorn the walls all around. Not to miss out on the current trends, a whole wall has been dedicated to the prevalent methods of Public connection (like FB, Twitter, Instagram etc) by placing icons of them on it.
We started of with Soya Seekh Kebab and mutton seekh kebab. The soya granules and chana dal were mixed perfectly to make these tender seekh kebabs which goes well with green mint chutney.Grind meat, chilli flakes, onion and garlic together form these lip smacking kebabs. Being a non vegetarian I still found the Soya seekh kebab better than his non vegetarian counterpart.
Then we decided to sink our teeth on Veg Lebanese platter. The platter consisted of flaky pita bread, crunchy falafel, delicious hummus, babaganoush and tzatziki along with pickled vegetables.
For the mains we opted for the North Indian options which I felt is the forte of this restaurant.Mix vegetable, Mutton rogan josh, Chicken curry and Paneer labadar.Like any other dry mix vegetable it had freshly chopped vegetables , spices and hint of coriander on top for garnishing. The mutton rogan josh is a signature Kashmiri lamb curry, spiced with Kashmiri red chilli, cardamom, cinnamon and slow cooked in cashewnut paste and tomato gravy. The overall texture and taste of this dish proved to be a perfect winner. The Paneer lababdar is also one of the reason why we mentioned North Indian food as their forte. Silky paneer cubes cooked in tomato gravy and lot of cream makes it delicious dish. We polished the above mentioned with some Garlic naan and pudina parantha.
In a nutshell, a colourful, quirky and vibrant Private seating areas and an amazing bartender makes this one a strong contender for those looking for a place to party in the heart of Delhi, especially for a larger group.
Must visit!!!
