Yum Yum Cha opens up its new store in Khan Market and it’s an absolute melange of quirky fun colours and a plethora of tastes. The first thing that attracts you the most is the ceiling. Covered with bright colours and paperwork, the restaurant sets the tone for experiencing Pan Asian food in a fun, casual way.

Dimsum and Sushi

The first thing that we do try out are the new on the menu dimsums. The Lotus Chicken has two lotus stems covering a single piece of Chicken and the earthiness of the lotus stem imparts a mouthful of flavour to the chicken. The Pink Crab as usual remains my favourite with its lightly pink colour and slightly sweet taste making me it’s fan since the first time I had it. Next on the plate sorry the Chef’s boat is a load of Sushi and Sashimi. This beautiful presentation is a platter of 20 pieces and it does not deceive at all. From the Tuna lined rice rolls to the sweet Barbecued Eel, the Chef’s Special boat takes you across a range of flavours. Do try out the Scallops for a taste of the Sea with its slight flavour of sweet and salty.

Starters and Mains

The starters include a Rock Shrimp Shake where deep fried Shrimp Balls are tossed in a peanut based sauce. The fried Shrimp with quinoa has the ministrations of crunch along with the tanginess and spiciness. We add on some of their coolers for a new add on of flavour. The chili cucumber combination is one to remember for a long long time. The mains include a noodle hot pot and a braised pork belly. The hot Pork Belly explodes at you with it’s distinct sweet taste. The soft, sticky nature of the dish is what makes me fall absolutely heads over heels in love with it.

Dessert

We end our meals with my favourite Mochi ice cream. This Japanese American creation has a sticky rice covering a pound of flavours inside. The flavours that we do try out are the Matcha Green Tea, Pink Paan Flavour, Rocky Road (Chocolate) and one by suggestion of our server Suresh, Coconut and Jaggery. I might have tried out this combination in both West Bengal and Malaysia but the Mochi Ice Cream takes these flavours to a whole new level altogether.
