We recently published an article regarding Ansal Plaza’s re launch with its flagship brands The Arena and Decathlon. With some brand new restaurants coming up, it is going to be the next destination for food and party lovers of the city. Trend is a new restaurant which opened a few days and something the first mall of New Delhi will be proud of.
8000 square feet of space of Trend is brilliantly done and it focuses on chic dining with a modernistic approach. The restaurant has an outdoor space that adds to its comfortable seating. Patrons can drop in for some deep house and commercial music if they looking to end the day with a scrumptious meal. The overall theme is rustic with warm tones that create a chic, cozy place to dine in or enjoy with your friends.

Food Talks at Trend

The menu designed is quite opposite of the name and is no where following the latest food trend in Delhi/NCR. Trend churns out a modern Indian cuisine for their patrons and also showcase a variety of dishes cooked some fancy techniques like ‘sous vide’ and ‘confit’. Chicken Tikka Trilogy turned out to be first dish on my plate. It was presented beautifully and the truffle and mustard dip served along with the tikka was a major highlight of my meal. Jack Daniel Tandoori Pork belly had a significant taste of the famous bourbon whiskey and being cooked to perfection it delighted our taste buds.

For the mains we tried the Butter Chicken. I was anticipating the type of butter chicken we (North Indians) are accustomed to. Trend’s take on Butter chicken is less creamy and more on tangy side with an average tomato gravy and over powering kasuri methi which makes the whole idea a bit confusing. On the other hand Seven grain khichdi turned out to be a bigger disappointment. It was presented well with quinoa seeds, paneer pinwheel and karela chips but I had no reasons to visit a place like Trend and other such a dish.

Overall, The place is new and they are trying to understand the mindset of people. A few changes from the menu and addition of new items with an alcohol license and a bartender who can serve lip smacking cocktails can prove to be the perfect recipe of success for this place.
