A pleasant surprise awaits you at the lobby of Shangri-La’s-Eros Hotel, New Delhi , a swanky new tea restaurant called “Mister Chai” which serves Indian flavors with an international twist. Some regional chais along with global specialties and some delectable street food. The unique concept is designed and brilliantly executed by Executive Chef Neeraj Tyagi who wanted to do something different than a normal coffee/tea lounges which 5 star Hotels usually offer.

The 50 seater lounge is bright and vibrant yet takes care of the privacy which one likes during a chit chat over a hot cuppa.  Plush sofas provide the level of comfort you need. A display counter showcasing sweets and savories raises your appetite with a counter of freshly brewed tea.

The menu is a magazine where each listing is highlighted with a story of its own. We start off with a CUTTING CHAI flavored with ginger and cardamom served in brass kettle with a square dabba full of Rusk to give that roadside feel. To go with that a NAMKEEN DABBA, brass Tiffin containing chana jor garam, curry leaf peanuts and super light, air fried chakli. The SAMOSA PLATTER is highly recommended which comes in 3 varieties namely CHILLY CHEESE, PUNJABI ORIGINAL and delicious BUTTER CHICKEN SAMOSA.

The nicely assembled vada paos named as WOW PAO in the menu not only looked great but were super tasty as well. The star of the day was THE COLABA FISH FRY SANDWICH, which was loaded with maharashtrian flavors wrapped up in soft masala bun. For the chat lovers SPDP is a must try, spherical gol gappas made of semolina stuffed with mash potatoes, chick peas, yoghurt and pomegranate seeds topped with right amounts of tamarind and mint chutneys. The sweet and sour mix of SHAKARKANDI KI CHAAT  is also something which will leave you drooling. We ended our journey with a sweet note with super soft flavored MACAROONS and a kick of another strong MASALA CHAI.

Macaroons

In a nutshell, Mister Chai is a perfect spot in the heart of the city for a business meeting or spending time with your loved ones. Do visit and be assured to get your taste buds fully pampered over a Chai Pe charcha and leave with a smile on your face.
