Delhi has witnessed a lot of political establishments across centuries and most of them have left their deep culinary footprints in the form of dishes. The mouth-watering  dishes range anywhere from  the classics like the Nihari or Butter Chicken which instantly reminds us of the rich Mughal era, to the Chaats in bustling lively streets of old ‘Dilli.’ Does Delhi Pavilion now ring a bell to you?

A sneak peak into the majestic offerings

I have been blogging for a while and there is one place which left me flabbergasted in awe. Sheraton Saket’s Delhi Pavilion stands out and is the perfect Indian restaurant which rightly showcases Delhi’s Culinary diversities, without compromising an iota of the original taste. To help you sail back in time, the rich, reminiscent dishes steeped in traditions right from the Mughal era to flawless modern Chinese makes it the one-stop Delhi package.

The Seekh Mirza gives you a feel you are dining in Taj Mahal

The ride starts with the tangy Karara Palak Chaat which will water your mouth and make you feel standing in Chandni Chowk. The magical Baqala Bean Kebab with pan seared patties of broad and kidney beans, stuffed with sprout chaat is another delicacy which is a rare specialty in Sheraton. Vegetarians ~ this one is for you. The next item on the platter was the Seekh Mirza, which on a first sight looked much like the Kolkata based Peter Cat’s much appreciated Chelo Kebabs.

Each dish in the menu attempts to form an intrinsic part of Delhi’s culinary history, like the fragrance of the appetizing Dal Dehlavi cooked in country made- Ghee and topped with chopped green chillies, roasted cumin & ginger juliennes. The Dal was enticing and served with biscuit rotis while it was smoke hot. Together the combination creates a fantastic delight.

Butter chicken needs no introduction in Delhi. But the curvaceous exuberant gravy is something which adds to the toothsome taste of the poultry.

If you ask me, amongst the non-vegetarian dishes, Mutton Nihari bags the top award.  The Nihari here is simply unforgettable. The soft delicious shanks of meat accompanied by an equally delectable gravy and Khamiri Roti make you crave for a second helping, forgetting the fat content.

For a cosmopolitan city as much as Delhi which is a melting point of cultures, languages and traditions, restaurants like Sheraton’s Delhi Pavilion are playing an important role to retain and preserve the now diminishing roots to our colourful past. The hotel’s architecture is to watch out for, too. The hotel’s dining walls are well decorated. The high ceiling and floral motifs also adds to the royal feel. There is a traditional Delhi rickshaw greeting you at the entrance of the restaurant. But the warmth and love shown by the hospitable staff at Sheraton and satisfying food at all times will definitely make you come again and again.

So to know the feel of Akbar taking a buffet, you need to visit the majestic Delhi Pavilion in Sheraton Saket soon.
