Trying out Indian food is always an enigma. But finding the traditional dishes of India displayed in the best way possible is one of the better perks of food blogging. The newly opened Bombay Brasserie plays host to this idea with traditional dishes from all over the country along with a range of Desi styled cocktails set up against the backdrop of a chic, contemporary setting.

The restaurant itself lends itself to an elegant dining space with soft lighting and gigantic bar. A place for a relaxed meal with friends or a loved one. The music is low and works perfectly to accentuate the ambiance. One of the mainstays of the restaurant is it’s Desi Pahwa cocktails and the flavours are absolutely spot on. Be it the Chaat Masala flavoured Junta Bar or the Orange flavoured Nagpuri Santra, these Indian flavours are served in bottles that look exactly like the ones that serve country liquor.

The food rustles up flavours from all over the country. A gigantic Lamb Kebab from Kashmir served with a Naan and Doon Chetin (a Walnut and Yogurt based chutney that serves to mellow down the heat from the spices). North India again features with roasted Himalayan Mushrooms that leave a delicate trace of earthiness on the palate. From the East, I decide to try out a crispy Fish Cutlet served with a dash of Kashundi (Bengali Mustard) on the side and from the West, there’s Goan Stuffed Paos that will have you licking your palate. More importantly, the menu also features a host of dishes from the Southern part of India, most of which you wouldn’t be able to taste that often in Delhi. These include the Gunpowder Potatoes along with the Guntur Podi Chicken. You might think that any restaurant would finish at this but surprisingly, the Bombay Brasserie also stacks up a Naga Ghost Pepper Wings and Shilling Shapale, flavours from the North-Eastern part of India.

The desserts also represent the different parts of the country with an Amritsari Kulfa from the North, East meets West in a Rosogulla topped with Alphonso Aamras and a Bitter Chocolate and Jaggery skillet from down South. The Bombay Brasserie offers you India in a way you haven’t tasted before.
