One of London’s premier Michelin starred restaurant, Yauatcha launches its new menu in the heart of the country. Located in the posh locality of the Vasant Kunj, this Modern chic restaurant is trying its best to match upto the lofty standards set by the London outlet. Yauatcha’s signature has always been a contemporary twist to the Cantonese cuisine with a huge focus on their Dim Sums. These small packets of flavourful explosion will thoroughly leave you content.
A well-stocked gargantuan bar dominates one side of the restaurant while the chairs are beautifully laid out into different types of seating be it for a couple or a party. The seating is usually within arms reach so dropping into your neighbour’s conversation is not that difficult. The service is pretty prompt with the waiters hovering to cater to your every whim.
Accompany your meal with a Lalu, a sweet vodka based concoction with a strong muddled flavour of litchis and lemongrass.
The new menu is an amalgamation of the best of what the restaurant has to offer. The vegetarian being priced at INR 888 while the non-vegetarian at INR 988. We start off with a Hot and Sour Chicken with shredded chicken. A thick soup with explosive flavour but the lack of enough meat in the soup lets you down a bit.
Next in line are their famous Dim Sums. The Spinach roll with prawn and water chestnut spins out some fresh water flavours combining superbly with the leafy tastes.
The Baked Chicken puff on the other hand is a sweet chicken mixture with a crispy, fluffy covering.
The Prawn dumpling with seaweed is another one of the must haves.
In the mains, the Kung Kung Pao Chicken with Cashew Nut and Egg Fried Rice ruled roost.
The bold sweet, sour flavours of the Kung Pao chicken feel like a harmony with eggy, nutty flavour of the fried rice.
We end our meal with another of Yauatcha’s specialities, Sorbets. We have the decadent looking Mango and Litchi sorbets on offer. A sight to behold, these beauties hot the most unreachable of taste buds on your palate to create a multitude of experiences. Soft, creamy, flavourful, decadent, sinful are a few adjectives which would aptly describe these beauties. Beware of taking a huge spoonful, otherwise you might just catch brain freeze.
Yauatcha scores heavily on many points. A few more conversions on the misses and they will have a winning product on their hands.
