Deciding what to wear on the first day of college can be as intimidating as getting an admission into the same. We want everything to be perfect just like we have been dreaming about it through school. Some people might think that we are making a great deal out of it but I guess those people don’t know the fear of being told on our face – “ you can’t sit with us “ . All this while we were protected from the self-credited fashion police because of our beloved school uniform. But now, it’s time to part our ways with it and step into the real world and show them what we got.
Anxious much? Don’t worry, we got you covered! Keep in mind the following guidelines while choosing the outfit of D-DAY.
Firstly, You have got to get familiar with your own style because style
is a way to speak who you are without having to speak. Are you easy breezy (casual), stilted (formal), or an authentic (ethnic). There are chances that you might be flexible enough to recognise yourself with every style but still, it is very important to determine your type.
Secondly, you might want to adhere to the standards of your college and course. Say, for example, if you are a law student, then you most definitely cannot show up in a pair of shorts no matter how much you identify with them because at the end of the day, we are going to gain knowledge and education and we can only do so by respecting it and our surroundings.
Thirdly, you should choose and outfit which will give an impression that you are a friendly person since, it’s the first day and all you’re here for is to make friends so that you can make great memories over the years. This step has to be inferred in consonance with the first one because you have got to be true to your own identity.
Fourthly, accessorise your outfit generously but don’t go overboard with all that bling.
Having said all this, we’d say that you should go with your instincts too. Pick an outfit which is comfortable. I mean, who doesn’t like a pair denims and a T-shirt. Pair your outfit with the most comfortable shoes, preferably, sneakers because it’s not easy to be on your toes for the entire day since, you will running in between admission formalities, lectures and auditions. Carry a chic backpack or a classy handbag which has ample space to store your necessary supplies. Try to keep your make-up to bare minimal because all that running can make your face look like a cake-y mess.
Well, don’t forget to have fun because this day will never come again.
All the best!
