The Uzurri Deli relaunches in Connaught Place with a bang. A brand new menu and a brand new decor is what meets your eye the moment you enter. The ambiance is very casual yet vibrant and the place has been split into 2 stories with a deli and diner on the ground floor and a chic bar setting on the first floor. Both the areas are very distinct in terms of decor, music and the overall feel. Snapshots of the C.P area are displayed on the walls of ground floor which looks like a street style cafe. A lot of wooden work has been used and both the floors are brightly lit.
The food menu for both the spaces is same which has mostly continental genre of dishes comprising of roasts , sandwiches , salads , breakfast items, pastas , pizzas and more. The drinks menu showcases a few signature cocktails, classic cocktails, wines, and brands of liqueurs with mocktails, and a range of teas and coffees. We started off with classic cocktail called KOFFEE MARTINI which was super refreshing and gave an instant kick. The vodka based drink which was infused with espresso shot was garnished with cinnamon powder and coffee beans. The KAFFIR LIME MOJITO is quite icy and balanced in terms of sweet and sour tastes. THE SAHARAN MARTINI was creamy and flaky because of the shredded chocolate floating on the top.
In starters we tried THE CHICKEN BURGER SHORTIES, which were nicely assembled with harissa chicken patties and coleslaw. THE GRILLED CHICKEN SKEWERS were tangy and accompanied with coconut cream dip. In the mains we had THE LAMB SHANK; the meat was juicy, tender and falling of the bone. Accompaniments were the potato mash and sautéed vegetables. THE HALF ROAST CHICKEN was cooked with the skin in red wine jus and flavoured with rosemary. Smaller pieces would have made the dish a bit more easier to consume.
The CHOCOLATE TART tasted heavenly, with gooey caramel oozing out of the crispy base. Great ending to a hearty meal.
In a nutshell, a cute little place which surely deserves repeated visits.
