Delhi Gourmet Club and Nearbuy are back with The Gourmet Studio 3rd Edition. The Chef of this month is Dhruv Oberoi and he plies his trade in the beautiful Olive Bar and Kitchen, Mehrauli. They say Olive is the best wingman a guy can get on his date. Although most of us have taken out our beloved ones to this majestic restaurant, this time is only about the food. Executive Chef Sujan Sarkar’s acolyte rustles up a storm this month with his 6 course menu. Priced at INR 1500, thus surely sound like a killer deal.
We start off with one of Dhruv’s Amouse Boucher and a glass of Olive’s royal punch. Strong sweet, acidic flavours invoke your hunger rumblings. The starter is a tenderloin carpaccio with tangy tuna, anchovy sauce and capers. The earthy flavours of the thinly sliced carpaccio smash through the strong acidic flavours to make love on your palate.
Next, the ricotta and spinach tortellini holds its own along with the artichokes. In competition is the Sea Bass cooked to a flaky perfection.
Cleanse your palate with the deep, strong sour acidic flavours of the line sorbet. Although it looks delicate in a snow white colour, it sure as hell packs a punch.
The mains include 4 different options to choose from. The sweet fat from the Belgian Pork Belly with Kale and potato mash is pitted against the Chicken breast cooked with a Chicken roulade. But it’s the sweetness of the Pork Belly that wins through anyhow.
Time for desserts now and Chef Oberoi definitely leaves a lasting mark again. A decadent Pannacotta with pear sorbet, vanilla pudding, wine poached pears, apricot jelly and some meringue shards. There is a complex interplay of flavours sweet and sour and textures from creamy to crispy. A dessert that is going to make us come back again and again.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity. The offer lasts only till the end of this month. You can book your meal at Nearbuy.
