Thailand has been a favourite destination of ours for quite some time now, especially for it’s Sea and Sand. One of Thailand’s best beach destinations is Phuket but it has always been just a bit out of reach as direct flights were never present. Beach lovers heading towards Phuket had to take a stopover in Bangkok before heading over to their final destination in an hour-long flight. But, GoAir one of India’s major low-cost airline which has been spreading its wings internationally for quite some time now has recently launched direct flights to Phuket from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, making it perfectly accessible for all the Indians planning to head to Phuket for their holidays. You can book your direct flights to Phuket by GoAir here. We headed here to check out the Thailand Yacht Show 2020.
Where to stay at the Royal Phuket Marina?
The Royal Phuket Marina, the first and only award-winning marina in Thailand is located about 45 minutes away from the airport. Situated at the Phang Nga Bay, Royal Phuket Marina has a number of waterfront condominiums and penthouses along with a marina that can hold nearly 300 yachts of different shapes and sizes. Royal Phuket Marina is the first and only award-winning marina in Thailand with 5 Gold Anchor Award and International Clean Marina Certification where you can enjoy the fresh air in the good environment all year round. We put up in one of the numerous 3 bedroom penthouses done up in a classic style with loads of wooden paneling and flooring. Our penthouse looks out onto a swimming pool for the inhabitants of the block along with a private pool on the roof.
What happens at the Thailand Yacht Show?
After checking in, we headed for breakfast at The Speakeasy, an all-day diner that made for the majority of our meals. One of the first things we dug into was a juicy Hamburger and a sweet green coconut before heading off to the main lobby area where the launch of the Thailand Yacht Show. Then we headed off to a showcase of luxury products from all over the world which included Mercedes, Porsche and a whole lot of yacht charters to choose from. The Thailand Yacht Show also featured a number of eating and drinking holes you could dig into. One of our favourite ones was Castaway Club just outside our apartment where we could dig into a Glass of Champagne and 3 Bubblies (THB 300) or Fries (THB 100). The evening ended with an opening party to relax and chill before turning in for the night.
The next day, we headed onto the Banana Beach (Koh Hey) in Phuket which offers a unique experience onboard one of the islands they own. I head out to some clear, green waters for some swimming and snorkeling before digging into some of the decadent Thai food I have had in Phuket. Back on the shore, we dig into some coconut ice cream laced with some water chestnuts and nuts.
Early the next day, we headed out on our first yacht ride of the event as Mr Gulu Lalwani, owner of the Royal Phuket Marina took us out for Lunch on his 70-footer Darling. With the sea winds swirling around about our hair and a glass of beer in hand, we got to see some of the most beautiful islands out of Phuket. We head out to the James Bond Island along with the Naka Island where we dig into some lunch. In the evening, we decide to check out a few of the yachts parked in the Marina. We chance ourselves upon the Dedalus, an 80 footer power Catamaran by Aqila that had us fawning with all the luxury and space on avail along with the largest yacht on display, the Custom Line Navetta 33 priced at INR 9,00,00,000 before heading onto Mr Lalwani’s home for a scrumptious Indian dinner.
On the final day of our stay in Phuket, we headed out to the Three Monkeys which is a unique restaurant set on top of a hillside where I had some spicy Thai food along with some Civet coffee which is a unique fermented coffee as it passes through the guts of a Civet cat. The coffee has a unique citrusy taste that will last for a long time on my palate. After that, Phuket’s old town was on our radar where I got myself a Thai massage for just 350 Baht an hour along with digging into some scrumptious Thai street food.
Phuket has definitely become one of my favourite destinations and I am definitely going to head back here soon, all thanks to the direct flights from Delhi by Go Air.
