On our second trip to Indonesia this year, I got the chance to travel along with Thai Airways and enjoy their hospitality. The airline is one of the better ones flying to South East Asian destinations from India. One thing that did stand out was the professional behaviour and helpful nature of the airline during the volcano crisis in Indonesia. The biggest problem with a flight to Indonesia is obviously the flight time which extends to nearly 8-10 years and having proper entertainment during that time is paramount. The entertainment on board Thai Airways is pretty good. With more than 20 Hindi movies and 30 English movies, I had no problems in spending one of my sleepless legs on the way back. The in-flight magazine also has a plethora of wanderlusty and offbeat locations which makes for some interesting reading.
During my flight from New Delhi to Indonesia, not only did the lovely air hostess provide me with a blanket and pillow, there was also some scrumptious food to be had. I really fell in love with the choice of Indian and Thai food and beverages that were served onboard. Desserts are highly recommended, especially the delicious Tiramisu. But one of the reasons I recommend Thai Airways is because of their lounge services which you cannot avail with the other low-cost airlines. With comfortable lounge chairs, scrumptious food and wifi to accompany you, I certainly couldn’t complain about the long layovers at the Thai Silk Lounge. They ensure we were able to enjoy the hospitality of the lounge and relax a bit during the long layovers.
During the volcano crisis of Indonesia recently, we were trapped in Bali as the Denspar airport had been closed. Mr. Manish Keswani, a representative of Thai Airlines worked day and night to ensure our safe flight back home which included a stopover at the famous Swarnabhoomi Airport in Thailand. Thai Airways offers some excellent hospitality which makes me recommend it quite highly.
