A mere visit to Tabula Beach cafe can transfer you to an ambience which is an amalgamation of Puducherry and Goa. For a reason I am saying that because just like Puducherry the place is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of being a hub and the decor that resmbles tree lined boulevards and the spiritual sceneries. At the same time Goan identity is rooted, among other things, like deep enjoyment of food and drink.
As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you notice is the huge bar with a great array of drinks. The seating area so far replicates just like any other resto-bar. Interiors are good enough with some quirky elements like the graffiti wall and a private island to boost the feel of the place.
The theme-based beach shack is probably what one is looking for and with the sky painted canopy-like ceiling and sand under your feet one does get the beach feel. There’s a separate area for sheesha lovers and smoking is allowed in the premises. The furniture is matched with the ambience.
Food Talks
The menu is a medley of seafood, comfort food (Lebanese) and Delhi’s default dishes of pasta and pizza. The drink menu is an ideal for booze lover like me. Caribbean Passion (Rs 799 – Unlimited) is an ideal combination of dark and white rum with passion fruit essence and topped with lemonade to give the citric touch. The Lebanese shish touk Kebab (Rs 375), meanwhile comes tender and encased in pitapockets, accompanied by Middle Eastern dips. Butter garlic chilli prawns(Rs 525) are exotic grilled prawns served with a sauce consisting of butter, garlic and chilis. The green chilli veg slider (Rs 475) sliders consisting of vegetable patty, cheddar cheese, jalapeños and chipotle sauce. Curried Chicken and cheese pizza (Rs 575) is an ideal thin crust pizza with curried chicken, onion, tomatoes, herbs, mustard and base consisting of mozzarella cheese.
For the mains we opted for basic red sauce and white sauce pasta. The Red sauce arrabiata pasta is just like any other pasta. A sprinkle of shredded parmesan could have saved it’s faith. The white sauce had an adequate amount of cream and mushroom just the way we expect our white sauce pasta to be. Having a warm white sauce pasta in a chilly winter afternoon is like a blessing.
We ended our meal on a sweet note with two of their signature desserts Rhum caramel dome (Rs 275) and hot chocolate fudge (Rs 250). The rhum caramel dome looked as good as the name and tasted even better. The taste of rum was overpowering in the molten centre and it’s a matter of choice if you appreciate it or hate it to the core.
In a nutshell, a vibrant cafe that gives you the amazing beach vibes sitting right here in Delhi. The outdoors are extremely welcoming. A place where one comes to chill and be at ease, but at the same time, come on their event evenings and enjoy artists that bring the floor alive.
