The newly opened all day dining restaurant at The Shangri La- Eros Hotel, Tamra is an oasis in the frenzy of the urban life of New Delhi. The concept is inspired from the early ages when copper vessels were used for the cooking process and has been perfectly executed.

The Ambiance is elegance personified with a rustic and vibrant effect. The 189 seater restaurant located on the first floor overlooks the garden area of the hotel and there is plenty of natural light coming in from the large window panes, making a great setting for a pleasant lunch. You will see a few partitions between the sections of the sitting area by rolling pins and jute chicks. The highlight of the restaurant is a separate area for kids with a buffet of few finger foods, gaming console and a few board games which will keep the little ones busy while you enjoy the food.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-00~01

Showcasing the culinary delicacies from all over the world , Tamra boasts to have the most elaborated buffet spread in the city with 5 live interactive kitchens namely Japanese, Indian & regional , Pan Asian , European/Continental and a large Desert section.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-09~01

You may order from The Ala –Carte menu but the recommendation is that you go with the Buffet which has enormous variety. The welcome drink is a mock tail served in a unique earthenware glass and tastes as brilliant as it is presented. We also ordered a couple of cocktails which were quite refreshing, THE DANNY WILD, which was a concoction of Gin, passion fruit, cranberry juice infused with lemongrass. The other one was THE JADED MONKEY which was a rum based drink with cinnamon and pineapple juice.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-18~01

The European/continental section displays an array of cold cuts, salads, cheeses, breads and a live grill. Also there is a Moroccan sub section in which LAMB WITH ORIENTAL RICE and CHICKEN WITH COUS COUS is displayed. THE LENTIL SOUP should not be missed from this section.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-14~01

The Japanese section has a SUSHI BAR having 10 types of sushi (6 non vegetarian and 4 veg), a live sea food bar having jumbo prawns, octopus, mussels and lobster and a teppenyaki grill. You will love the CALIFORNIA MAKI and SALMON ROLL are delicious, topped with fish roe. The wasabi, pickled ginger and the soy sauce make the perfect accompaniment.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-21~01

Moving on to the Pan Asian section, an ASIAN NOODLE SOUP  section prepares some delectable soups from the fresh ingredients displayed in front of u. You must not miss the THAI ROAST CHICKEN which is a specialty street food of Thailand combined with tangy SOM TAM SALAD.  This counter also showcases some delicious gravies from south east with noodles and jasmine rice. The DIMSUMS and BOKCHOY too are brilliant.Screenshot_2015-09-11-13-04-25~01

Tamra specialize in Indian cuisine and this section surely has the most elaborate spread. First there is a CHAAT COUNTER showcasing lip smacking street foods like PANI PURI , DAHI BHALLA etc. There are variety of succulent kebabs like GALOUTI KEBAB , LEHSOONI MAHI TIKKA , PANEER TIKKA  with DUM BIRYANIS  presented nicely in big copper vessels DAL MAKHANI , ROGAN JOSH  and MURGH MAKHANI. The chef insisted to try the TAWA COUNTER which is a unique concept and no other five star restaurants do. MAGAZ , GURDA KALEJI and MUTTO KEEMA  are prepared with a chatpata masala and meat stock which comes out to be rich in flavors on this tawa. The Tandoor section is huge and cooks up a range of assorted Indian breads like LACHA PARANTHA, MISSI ROTI  and a variety of NAANS. There is something for the south Indian food lovers too in the form of CHICKEN STEW accompanied with steaming hot APPAMS. You must not miss the MORADABADI DAL which is served in a street style mitti ki katori and has a tangy touch to it.

Needless to say that after having the entire buffet spread, the chances are you won’t have any room left for the desert. But the beautifully presented section will tempt you for sure.  Do not avoid the ice cream kiosk, the Indian sweet section and the chocolate fountain, and also save some place for the pastry bar which certainly will be bigger than you may have ever seen in terms of variety.

To all the above, add the genuine warmth of the ever smiling courteous staff which will be present to help you out throughout the gastronomical journey.
