Sunday Brunches are a welcome relief from the hustle bustle of the week. Emerging from the shadows of the busy corporate week, this is one day you can rise up late and let yourself be pampered. Although having a sizeable population working in the corporate setup, trans Yamuna Delhi, especially Ghaziabad tends to lag behind in the offerings of food. People would rather fling themselves half way across the town for a decent Sunday Brunch, but spending in their own backyard seems like a stigma to them. Add to that the huge erstwhile Delhi 6 population residing here, which believes in sticking to vegetarian food and you get a recipe for disaster. But a leader is one who circumvents such obstacles and creates a masterpiece. Radisson Blu Kaushambi Delhi NCR does the same.
With the starting of two different sections for their buffet, they have revolutionized the way that Ghaziabad will eat its food. Avatar remains its staple and serves out the non-vegetarian fare while the newly opened Sultan takes care of all your vegetarian needs. Priced at a very competitive INR 1195++, you can add unlimited domestic Beer for another INR 400 and unlimited Sparkling Wine for another INR 1000. But the most essential part of their Sunday Brunch is Executive Chef Roshan Mendoza and Senior Sous Chef Sudhanshu Sharma’s authentic European fare.
There is a Tapas Bar to start off. Small idlis in varying flavours stuck on a tooth pick in shot glasses. Lie on some ghee, gunpowder and the some spicy chutneys for some explosive flavours. The dish of the day is baked potato filled with smoked chicken and lamb. These starchy beauties give a perfect combination of protein and carbohydrates in a perfect harmony of flavours. A Satay Bar also welcomes you with some Pan Asian delicacies. The classic peanut sauce is present along with some of their own innovations.
But their talk of the town is Sultan so let’s focus on that. Divided into sections of Live Counters, European, Asian, Indian, Breads, Desserts, Fruits and Ice Cream, the fare basically will fulfil your every sinful temptation. The live stations consist of two serving out Authentic Delhi 6 food, one serving South Indian and one serving out Italian. The Sphagetti Aglio Olio impresses with subtle taste of garlic, butter and herbs on a perfectly cooked sphagetti.
The European section houses a decadent Carrot Ricotta Quiche and Pommes Dauphinoise. The Indian food comes from Kama, their speciality Restaurant. Now Kama’s is something that has been extensively covered here. Their Pan Asian cuisine does not fare that high on the authenticity meter. But Pan Asian whose taste takes some getting used to. The Thai green does make some ripples on your palate.
The desserts are definitely something to be proud of. The Old Delhi styled Malpua with Rabri and Hot Milk work as a wondrous end to a beautiful journey.
