Guppy by ai launches its new Summer menu. An offbeat restaurant which has stuck to its motto of serving out some authentic Japanese food to its loyal customers. The restaurant itself is a riot of colours with small statues adorning the walls and origami lying around. Chef Vikram Khatri’s menu is an ode to the summers with some refreshing drinks, some cold noodles and loads of seafood to be eaten. It is one of those places that you dream of for a Sunday Brunch. Lazy, cool, relaxed.
The Summer Hoedown (INR 350) is a refreshing start to your meal with the freshness and the sweetness of the watermelon cutting a stark contrast to the acidity of the lime. The mint on top adds a sprightly taste.
The Aurum (INR 400) on the other food is one of the drinks to accompany you on your mains. Subtle tastes of passion fruit along with gold leaf for that royal feel.
In mood for something more intense?? Try the Kinomitini (INR 400). An intense flavour of mixed berries topped off with vodka and lime. A perfect companion to your end of the meal dessert.
We start off with the Tofu and Water Chestnut Motayaki (INR 400). It’s a rich and complex interplay between the watery chestnut and the silken tofu cooked in a slightly nutty sauce.
It is flanked by the Seaweed and Mesclun Salad (INR 450). It is like an antidote to the scorching summers outside. Light flavours of seaweed in a heavy cold dressing.
There’s a rich thick Wood Smoked Pumpkin Soup (INR 250). Thick, creamy, sweet. It’s a great harbinger of things to come.
Try out the Assorted Vegetable Tempura Platter (INR 500). Light, crispy yet preserving the individual tastes of the vegetables.
But it’s the Futamaki Sushi Roll (INR 1200) that takes the honours roll. There is an explosion of fresh multiple flavours as you tuck in this pocket sized dynamo of salmon, tuna, tamaga and crab.
Moving onto the mains, the must tries includes a Parchment Baked Market Fish (INR 900). Fresh cooked fish with a sake glaze and a bit of lime. Spartan tastes which will leave you wanting for more.
The Eel Yanagawa Fu (INR 900) tantalises you with the sweet taste from the sauce and the smoothness of the eel. But it’s the cold noodles that take your heat away.
Whether it’s the Hiyashi Somen (INR 650), the Japanese thin Angel hair noodles served on a bed of ice with the ginger soy doshi or the Udon Noodles (INR 650) with a bit more of rankling on the taste buds with some pungency from the Wasabi, both of them are perfect way to cool our body down with some tasty grub.
We end our meal with the Macha Pudding (INR 350). Bitter healthy green tea combines with the sweet salty caramel sauce in a match made in heaven.
Guppy by ai newest summer menu is a perfect way to beat the heat this scorching summer. The Eclectic surroundings and the cold, fresh tastes just make your Sunday morning that much better.
