Smoke on Water, the first tap-your-beer Gastropub, is now open in Delhi’s most renowned and oldest hub Connaught Place. The industrial rustic set up concept offers an experience of sports by the day and rock by the night. The place gives the feel of an American pub but the place also doubles up as a family spot. Stuti Dixit and Mayur Mathur are debuting in the hospitality industry with this unique concept. The interior of this place have a rustic feel and recreates the distinctive American experience with food, one of its kind beer system and music appealing to modern rock lovers and youngsters in the capital.
The Gastropub boasts of being Home of The Fiery Wings, offering 16 unique flavors of chicken wings, not existing anywhere else, served with different sauces and seasonings, right from Classic Buffalo Wings to a delicious take on Indian cuisine Tikka Chicken Wings. The food ranges from flavor packed big burgers, cracker crust pizzas and other beer favorite foods. Coming to its unique state-of-the-art beer dispensing system, the first of its kind, it allows customers to pay according to the quantity of drinks rather than the conventional pint or glass. It gets so much easier to refill glasses rather than ordering the drinks again and again and also waiting for them to arrive.
THIS IS HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
Every table has a tap for dispensing the drinks. All the taps dispense a different kind of beer. The customer needs to tap the ‘drink card’ on a screen on the table. The ‘drink card’ is initially recharged with a certain sum of money. After tapping the card, the tap is ready to dispense beer all by itself. The screen also displays the quantity and the amount of the drink. The unused amount can be refunded. This is a great way to check expenses and also boast about your capacity by coming to the top of the ‘beer leaderboard’.
They sport a lot of variety in their drinks too with the most innovative being the Desi Pauwaa bucket which is very unique and interesting. Sharabi Naareel, Paan, Masala Maar Ke and Kala Jaamun were among the few flavours served in cute little pauwaa bottles with nitrogen smoke coming out of the bucket. Full marks for the presentation and the play with colors. Besides these, the drinks menu also sported quite a variety in the cocktails and mocktails. We tried the Kiwi Cucumber Martini, Gin Rosemary Fizz and the Red Hot Chilli Peppa. The Gin Rosemary Fizz is a great combination of aromatic gin, earthy rosemary and fresh lemon. Red Hot Chilli Peppa and Jalapeno LIIT are for those who appreciate everything hot and spicy and are ready to take their taste buds on an adventure. Rock and Roll Refresher and Chatpataka were the two mocktails that we tried. Rock and Roll Refresher had the tangy taste of orange combined with lime.
Let’s talk bite sized appetizers. Crispy Baby Corn, Grilled Polenta with feta and Cheese, Nachos, Potato Nuggets and Farmhouse Pizza are the few vegetarian offerings. The Grilled Polenta must not be given a miss. South Western Spring Rolls were undeniably the best with corn, cheese, spinach stuffing served with salsa. Big Kahuna Shrimps, Fish Fingers and cracker crust Chicken Pizza were the delectable non- vegetarian dishes.
With a never-before-existent experience, Smoke On Water sure is the ultimate destination for rock, beer and sports.
