Singapore has always been one of India’s most popular tourist destination. From Marina Bay to Chinatown, from The Merlion to the Sentosa Island, the affordable prices of visiting Singapore has meant that a huge amount of Indians are making Singapore their next holiday destination, as evident by more than a million visitors going there last year alone. Singapore Tourism recently celebrated 100 years of one of Singapore’s most classic cocktails, The Singapore Sling at Shangri La’s Eros Hotel.
The Singapore Sling traces it’s origin to the famous Raffles Singapore and was created in 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. At the turn of the last century in colonial Singapore, social etiquette dictated that women should not consume alcohol. So the genius bartender Ngiam struck up with an idea of creating a drink for women which looked like a fruit punch. Based on gin along with the a feminine pink colour with a predominant sweet taste, this drink shot to the top of the drink list.
We show a video where we have ace Bartender Rizwan from the legendary Long Bar at Raffles, Singapore to concoct this beautiful mixture.
