About the Launch
The Coolpad Cool 1 was launched in a glittering ceremony at The Lalit, Barakhamba Road. With a ton of activities centered around the features of the phone, the launch party had everyone decked out in colours of blue. The major reason why the phone is going to shoot up to the top of the popularity charts is due to the fact that the Dual Camera is going to available for the first time at such a low price. The event ended with a plethora of selfies and pictures with the mascots of Coolpad.
Cool 1 Specifications
The touchscreen smartphone has single sim capacity. It is 2G/3G/4G enabled with GPRS and EDGE capability. The device has Bluetooth 4.1. It has a 5.5 inch display screen with AMOLED display. The phone has an internal memory of 32GB which is not expandable. The 4GB RAM makes the processing fast and user friendly. Above the 5.5-inch screen, there are only the earpiece, ambient light and proximity sensors and on the left, the 8MP front camera.
Let’s talk about the primary camera of the Coolpad Cool 1. With a dual camera, it clicks images in both RGB and Monochrome fusing them later to create the image. The camera app is also very simple to use. Across the top it has options for HDR, flash and toggle cameras. It also has options to add filters and watermarks on the go making it a perfect phone for travel bloggers like us. The bottom allows for different pre-determined settings to toggle between video, beauty and Pro options. The Pro option really let’s us explore the whole range of photography with manual changes that can be made to focus, ISO, exposure and shutter speed. The beauty app with the 8MP camera is perfect to selfie lovers. You can use options like smoothen, whiten and even slim down for that perfect wanderlust selfie.
CoolPad Cool 1 v/s I Phone 6s
First Look- The CoolPad Cool 1 and I Phone 6s both have their main power buttons on the right and volume buttons on the left. Both also have the charging dock, audio jack, speaker grille and mike on the bottom while on the top rear, they have the camera and LED flash. Just the placements differ slightly in both.
Camera- The 13 mega pixel primary dual camera in CoolPad Cool 1 is more is more effective than the 12 mega pixel primary camera of IPhone. The Secondary 8 mega pixel came also takes quality pictures. While the camera menu in the iPhone include the options to take Slo-Mo, Video, Photo, Square and Panorama, the camera menu in the Cool 1 has Time Lapse, Video, Pictures, HDR and Panorama. They have an inbuilt Beauty option which helps to bolster your selfies. The Pro option is one of the highlights of the phone offering DSLR quality pictures with manual White Balance, Exposure Time and Focus.
Final Verdict
Priced at INR 13999, the Cool 1 has features to rival the best of high-end phones. Besides being lightweight and sleek, it is also a powerhouse in terms of performance. But best of all, I love the dual camera on the backside! If you want a smartphone that looks like an iPhone, performs like an iPhone (I’m talking about the user interface) yet is powered by Android, takes amazing photographs and costs half as much as the leading high-end phones, then I highly recommend the Coolpad Cool 1.
