Paatra’s newest offer on Royalty is the Royal Table known as Dawat-E-Khas. Dawat E Khas takes its inspiration from the kitchens of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Ruler of the Sikh dynasty during the early 1800’s, Maharaja Ranjit Singh combined flavours from all over north and western India, Karachi, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and Afghanistan. Today, Chef Ashish Joshi masterfully recreates those flavours at the Royal Table of Paatra.

The royalty of the place lies in its exclusivity. With a requirement of at least 8 people and a pre booking of atleast 48 hours, this is a first for the Delhi NCR. At INR 2500 plus taxes, this deal seems too good to miss. The personalised attention at the table by turbaned waiters will make you coming back for repeats.

The food fills you with daring and robust flavours. A surprisingly sour curd accompanied by crackers serves as the Amuse Bouche, a tribute to the French generals of the Maharaja’s army.

The Peshawari Barwan Tangri brings together the texture of minced chicken with spices packed inside a chicken’s leg while the Baluchi Surkh Gosht offers a slice of a lamb right through its leg marinated overnight to give you tender meat that falls off the bone while the lard combines with the spices in a match made in heaven.

In the mains, the Mardan Malai Bater continues the tradition of cooking with game food. The Bater makes you dig in with its flavourful aroma, the small bones although impediments but will never be able to stop you from devouring it. There’s a tender creaminess and heat to the Attock da Keema. The minced meat combines wonderfully with the north western spices. The Saundha Paneer Malaiwala delights you with some tenderly cooked panner doused in a mildly spiced gravy.

Accompany your food with either glasses of Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc to complement the robust taste of the Punjabi masalas. Envelope your curries in some masterfully created Peshwari Naan to offset a perfect combination.

End your meal with the decadently curated Lancha Jamun, Pan Bahaar or the Mawa Mithai. The Lancha Jamun although sweet but does not overpower the tasty masalas that you have just gobbled down while the Mawa Mithai adds that touch of creamy royalty.
