Tucked far and beyond the chaotic pink city of Jaipur, Royal Heritage Haveli was once a royal hunting lodge which now stands in peace as a boutique property at the outskirts of Jaipur. Built in the 18th century by Raja Madho Singhji of Jaipur, the Haveli opened its doors after 150 years as a hotel. After a successful run for more than 50 years, RHH keeping its royalty intact has also opened its doors to one the finest Ayurvedic and wellness group Niraamaya Retreats. Having said that, it is also the very first property of Niramayaa in northern India.
The rambling lawns and serene courtyards just embrace you the moment you step into the grandeur of this Rajasthani haveli. A big old fashioned fountain welcomes you with its tranquil sounds of water while it pours from the top and ultimately pools into the bottom. The Haveli provides a very quiet and idyllic haven of space and luxury to the discerning eyes.
Suites at Royal Heritage Haveli
Beautifully planned to hold light within, the Haveli has 12 suites each designed and tastefully done with traditional furniture and velvet upholstery alongside modern amenities. Luxurious and large, each suite has its own sitting area for one’s royal indulgence. The entire haveli has a majority of Rajputana architecture and the rooms look straight out of a period movie. The rooms are done in various coloured themes. My yellow room was steeped in the beautiful architecture of the Rajputs. With a small room for sitting opening up into the main room with divans, almirahs and lamps, the room exudes a rustic appeal, the only modern amenities being the refrigerator and the air conditioner. The bedroom houses a Queen sized bed and opens into a large and spacious washroom.
Food (Restaurants and café) at Royal Heritage Haveli
Let’s talk about the food now. Rajasthan may be the trendsetter for royal food but the Royal Heritage Haveli allows you to experience Royal food quite literally. The most invigorating part of staying in RHH is the view at breakfast from Kigelia Court. As the name suggests, the Kigelia Court is placed both outdoors and indoors and acts as their all day dinning restaurant. One can have their morning meals with a view of the morning sun beaming upon them accompanied by the soft sound of santoor and tabla playing in the background. There is a dominant use of organic produce from their home grown kitchen gardens while serving an authentic taste of Rajasthan.
The chef cooks up a classic Masala Dosa for me with a serving of Sambhar and coconut chutney along with a bowl of local Jaipuri mangoes for breakfast. The menu here consists of a plethora of cuisines including Continental, North Indian, and the regional specialty Rajasthani. With some vegetarian delicacies like Daal Baati churma, Gatta curry to Dahi Baingan and a plethora of non-vegetarian delicacies like Laal Maans and Narangi Do Pyaaza, it was a meal worth remembering. We wrapped them down with some Bajra Rotis and Lachha Paranthas. One can also savour the rich blend of spirits and conversations at the Mehrab bar while enjoying a scrumptious array of delectable appetizers and hors d’oeuvres that will tantalize the palate and complete the feeling of drinking with the Royals.
Niramayaa Spa at Royal Heritage Haveli
The spa at Niraamaya is always a pleasure to experience. An oasis of calm in the environs of the metropolis is hard to imagine. But Royal Heritage Haveli by Niramayaa Resorts is here to bust all your myths. With large open lush green trees all around, this resort is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate oneself. With an Ayurvedic menu that expands to pages, I decided to treat myself to Aromaya. The spa offers a perfect accompaniment to all your beauty, health and medical ailments. The therapy rooms at RHH are tastefully yet minimalistic decorated with a large waiting area by the pool to just unwind and relax before and after the therapy. The rooms have an attached bathrooms which are the perfect place to sweat out toxins post a massage. A large table takes its place right in the center of the room, with a beautiful art installation on the wall along with Kama Ayurveda toiletries. The hour-long Aromaya therapy had me totally relaxed
