When an old restaurant reinvents itself in a totally new fashion, a lot of expectations are set. One of the older restaurants in CP, Rodeo Cantina & Kitchen has set itself up for some amount of success. Although the old Rodeo had a tinge of Tex-Mex to it, the new Rodeo Cantina and Kitchen is riding on the wave of specialised restaurants and has established itself in the casual yet authentic Mexican cuisine. Helping the cause is that it also has set itself up as a Tequilera with a slew of tequila-based cocktails.
Why is Rodeo one of the best Mexican restaurants in CP?
The common symptom that plagues most Mexican restaurants is trying to suit the Indian palate. With the earthiness of the Mexican cuisine not finding many takers amongst the North Indian crowd, some changes have to be made. The delicate balance of sticking to the original flavors yet enticing the Indian taste buds is a fine line and most restaurants go onto the latter side. Rodeo, on the other hand sticks more on the former side and will soon get up a loyal following of Mexican food loyalists in the city.
One of the reasons that Mexican food has stuck with me so much is that the flavours and even the ingredients are quite similar. With a community style eating where everyone digs in from a single plate accompanied by loads of laughter and fun. I fell in love with the soft-shelled tacos with different types of fillings including Baja Fish, Mushrooms and even Eggplant & Potato. Their tacos have a substantial amount of corn used in their making which gives it quite an interesting taste.
My recently increasing love for tequila has been due to the trip I took to Mexico along the tequila trail being a travel blogger in India. One of the best tequilas I have had is the Corralejo Anejo with a dash of cinnamon salt and a slice of Tangerine. Rodeo Cantina serves out a slew of lovely tequila-based cocktails and we must recommend the Acapulco Spice.
Mexican food has always been associated with a handful: tacos and nachos. But the menu here features quite a few dishes including the Chicharron De Queso and Taquitos that you must plan to try out. The Chicharron De Queso is literally a Dosa made out of cheese served with a side of Avocado Salsa. Rodeo Cantina and Bar is serving out some lovely authentic Mexican grub that you must plan on trying out if you’re planning to visit restaurants in CP.
