VITS Luxury Hotel at Andheri, Mumbai keeps the attention going with their pop-ups, various food festivals and other similar events from time to time. One such festival is the Rajasthani Food Festival, “named Padharo Maaro Des,” that they concluded recently.
With an array of popular Rajasthani delicacies and the staff dressed up in Rajasthani ethnic wear, it was an interesting affair. The festival was set up with live stations at the poolside restaurant of the hotel. Started with various starters including moong methi pakoras, dry fuit samosas, various salads (both veg and non veg) and a live chaat counter serving panipuri, sev puri, etc.. Most dishes were being served in earthen pots.
The mains had da-bati-churma, of course, along with kadhi, gatte ki sabzi, panchmel daal, baingan, haldi saag, koftes, lal maas, Jaipuri murgh, Rajasthani fish, and various other dishes. There were at least 15-16 starters (including chaat and salads), 15-16 main course items in both veg and non veg, pulao and other varieties of rice, a live station for rotis and parathas, and an assorted selection of desserts. They had rabri gulab jamun, sukri and apricot halwa one of the days!
The Chef was the most hospitable I have met in a long time. He was always around the floor, supervising the needs of all the diners, ensuring the kitchen is providing a steady supply and warm, fresh food to the table. He came up to every table and asked how the food was, suggested we try other things as well. He literally stole the show!
