Italian has slowly but steadily become one of my favourite cuisines to eat out. But most of the Italian meals usually tend to be long drawn dinners or a mish mash of cuisines. Sorrento, the Italian restaurant at Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel has bridges the gap with a quick Pranzo Eccellente lunch for INR 1500++. The lunch menu is composed of four sections including a salad, a pasta, a mains and a dessert and is perfect for people in search of a quick yet authentic Italian lunch.

What we ate at the Pranzo Eccellente lunch?

Salad for us included a Buffalo Mozzarella spiked with tomatoes of all types, the green ones providing for some acidity while the red ones hit the sweeter overtones. Another salad that you must try out includes the Pear and Pomegranate salad which encompasses the crunch of pears along with other ingredients.

The Aglio Olio has remained one of my favourites since long but when you add the incentive of prawns to it, it simply becomes mesmerising. The Penne with tomato and Bocconcini on the other hand hits all the right notes with the tomato sauce having the perfect amount of garlic to offset it.

For the mains you have a choice between a delicate lamb shank with some creamy polenta & gremolata and literally dissolves on your palate along with a Sole fish that brings all the flavours of the sea to your plate. But it’s their meal gelatos that totally take the prize. Although there are a plethora of flavours that you can try out including Belgian Dark chocolate and salted caramel, it is the Cream Cheese flavour that had me licking the last dredges out of the bowl.

The Pranzo Eccellente menu is perfect for a business meeting or on the go and is something that you must try out.
