The Lodhi New Delhi is slowly but steadily becoming one of the top dining destinations in all of Delhi NCR. Since the time it changed ownership under DLF Luxury Retail and Hospitality and becoming a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in mid-2017, it has made giant strides in updating it’s culinary offerings. One of the first steps was to get Chef Manish Mehrotra’s Indian Accent to settle in. Once that was done along with all the Michelin star popups that were happening there, The Lodhi has now turned it’s eyes to adding even more to its culinary arsenal. One of the recent additions is Perbacco, which literally translates to an exclamation of surprise, does so quite easily with warm flavours from all parts of Italy.
Chef Adriano Baldassare
At the helm is Michelin Starred Chef Adriano Baldassare, who will be dividing time between his single Michelin Star restaurant Tordomatto Ristorante in Rome and here in New Delhi. Chef Baldassare has previously been at the kitchens of Locatelli in London and Zagarolo’s Tordo Matto where he won his first Michelin star. The food that he brings to India is heavy on flavours and promises to resonate quite well with the travelled palate of Delhi. We fall in love with the giant windows complementing the aqua and white coloured bright interiors, matched by the serving staff’s ensemble.
Tasting menu at Perbacco
The Amouse Bouche is a trio of home-grown cheese, albeit in flavours of Mozarella, Olive and Tomato. His tasting menu starts off with a Fresh Burrata Tart along with some Asparagus for the Vegetarians while there’s a Salmon Tartare topped off with Salmon Roe for the non-vegetarians. There’s also some roasted Beetroot served with a Rubra sauce, Onion and capers along with a creamy, rich, thick Onion soup served with Provolone cheese followed by a Risotto and Eggplant Parmigiana. On the other side, Capellaci served with some Gremolata and a Roast Chicken served with a mustard dressing Salad.
Food at Perbacco
The menu also features quite a few Italian staples, including a range of Pizzas made with a range of imported Mozzarella, Parma Ham and Pepperoni along with a series of hand made pasta. Although the wine list is quite extensive, it is the range of Italian wines that will truly blow you away. We dig into a Pinot Grigio and Montepulciano for the night. But it the desserts that truly impress upon the lovely flavours of Chef Baldassare. Along with the quintessential Tiramisu, there’s also an Apple Tart served with a Green Cardamom ice cream, a Semifreddo served with Hazelnut and Salted Caramel and a Cannoli Siciliani that you must try out.
Our verdict of Perbacco
Perbacco at The Lodhi New Delhi is one place you must definitely head to for its elegant design and lovely flavours.
