The quaint yet slowly starting to bustle GK 1, N Block Market has another new entrant, Penthouse. Being one of the innumerable lounges in the city, this one actually surprises with some good food. Dark lighting, lounge sofas dominate with some music that acts as a perfect accompaniment to your date. A good collection of wines makes for an added point for the South Delhi person who’s started to travel out.

Chef Pradeep Jugran starts us up with a melange of food from around the globe. The crispy fried Chicken Karange, the fluffy Beer Battered Prawn on sticks and the mushroom croquettes impress to the fullest. The Croquettes retain the perfect crispy texture outside with a soft, creamy filling inside. A good range of dimsums with a thin covering and fresh, clean flavours inside. The Chicken with fresh Basil and Ginger and Crystal Spinach and Corn are our definite recommendations.

But it’s the mains and desserts that impress the most. The Thai Basil Chicken gives out its sharp, exotic flavours while the Keema Pav gives out the deep, spicy flavours that go perfectly with the hot, buttery Pav. The dessert is one of Thailand’s best, the Tub Tim Krob. Although most restaurants baulk at the thought of getting it right, Chef Jugran does a pretty good job with the decadent concoction of water chestnuts in jasmine syrup.

Combined with the Café Pout downstairs, it’s your two in one combination to impress the special one.
