As any old timer in Jaipur will suggest you that a meal outside home has meant either kachori and samosa with jalebi, pista flavoured milk or healthy portion of Dal bhatti Churma or the ever-famous Lal Maas. Untill they pay a visit to posh area of C scheme in Jaipur and treat their tastebuds with the lip smacking offerings by “ON The House” also popularly known as OTH.
Majority of our local friends recommended this place to us for a great meal. I checked the menu of this place online and it had everything that I was craving to try for last 72 hours. The place has a decent parking area and a vibrant ambience which reminds me of “The Big Chill Cafe”. The staff is attentive and helpful. Other than the pleasing interiors with natural light filtering in from three sides, it has enough seating outside as well if one wants to enjoy the pleasant evening breeze. In the past four year of its existence it has had its good and not-so-good times but is very well-settled and among top restaurants in Jaipur.
Food Talks at On The House
Our meal started with delicious appetisers such as pesto chicken. A hint of pine nuts, garlic on top of juicy chicken makes it the highlight of my meal. The lamb chops come next. Again, it’s the premium quality of the meat that impresses you. The sauce seems a little less on this one as it suffices for only the meat not the accompaniments. I had an interaction with Mr. Dushyant Singh, Owner OTH, who being an avid traveler and a connoisseur of food enlightened me about the contribution made my OTH in changing the food scenario in Jaipur. As soon as the Mezze platter was placed on the table, our eyes kept rolling to see what all have been presented. Hummus was of smooth consistency. Other servings included salads, Muhamarra and Baba Ghanoush which tasted pleasurably unusual. Even the way in which they prepare the Pita Breads is different.
For the mains we tried two unusual combinations such as Pepperoni pizza with mushrooms. Following it was the bacon and potato pizza. Combinations were unusual but the taste was not compromised. We ended our meal on a sweet note with their signature seasonal dessert “Mango Cheesecake”.
