Delhi and Mumbai are slowly but steadily establishing themselves as two culinary destinations that any goodie should definitely check out. With new restaurants and concepts being launched every other day, these two cities have become the twin pillars of the Indian culinary scene. Whenever there’s a new restaurant that launches in Mumbai, I book myself on any of the numerous Delhi to Mumbai flights and take advantage of these cheap flight tickets to gorge on a lot of food. Here are six restaurants in Mumbai that I discovered, and you must check out too.
The Chimney Factory
Chimney Cakes or Cakes in Cones has become the newest fad all over the world
and the Chimney Factory brings it right to Mumbai. Try out the Maple Syrup cone
with Nutella spread and piped ice cream or an apple pie with a sugar dusted
cone.
The Bun Bistro
Roti Buns are another new fad that has emerged, and the Bun Bistro offers both sweet and savoury variants. The sweet ones might have Nutella, Chocolate or Cream Cheese filled inside whereas the savoury ones might have Makhni or Pav Bhaaji filling inside.
Taj Ice Cream
Mumbai’s answer to Natural’s, Taj Ice Cream has. Arrange of lovely fruit flavoured ice creams that you must try out. Although their main Ice creamery is in Bhendi Bazaar, the newly opened centre at Bandra is no less. There are some eccentric flavours like Fresh Mango, Guava and Custard Apple that they have been creating since 1887.
The Don
Single bowl meals have become the myntra of today, starting from the Seoul Tube Meal Bowls to the slurpy Japanese ones. Don, short for Donburi which is a rice-based bowl, try out the Avocado loaded Don or the Crumb Fried Chicken Don which you can combine with Yakitori skewers.
Hoppumm
Are you a lover of Sri Lankan food? The quintessential Sri Lankan classic Hoppers are served with a number of curries including Chicken Stew or a Mushroom Roast.
Ummrao
Let’s back to some Indian flavours now. Chef
Mukhtar Qureshi’s Awadhi Restaurant, Ummrao serves up a healthy dose of Salans,
Kormas, Taftaans and even the quintessential Khameeri Roti.
Do head onto these six restaurants the next time you’re in Mumbai and let us know about which place you like the most.
