In this chaotic and dynamic world we sometimes feel like getting transported to a much  happier place where we can eat without having to think about our next appointment or listen to some good old music. Well, Team Salt and Sandals certainly certifies SodaBottleOpnerwala as a happy place which is peppy yet soothing. Also, we appreciate when a restaurant tries to engage it’s customers by changing their menu a bit. This move helps the restaurant explore their potential and also breaks the monotony for their much loyal and regular customers. SodaBottleOpnerWala seems to have nail this ideology since their new menu is to die for!

Bacon Vada Pav

Not many of you know but the SodaBootleOpnerWala at Khan Market is chiefly managed by Chef Anahita Dhondy and Team Salt and Sandals was completely mesmerised by her talent and work. she made us go through the entire new menu telling us about the restaurant’s modern take on the traditional parsi food and the choice of ingredients they thought were marriageable.

Boiled Egg Sandwich

For starters they have come up with Crispy Corn Bhel and Carnivore’s Bhel. We are sure you must have never thought about giving your bhel a bacony twist but god, does it tastes even more amazing! They also played with the Vada Pav by adding bacon to it. We think that bacon is no doubt the non veg version of butter because everything become yummier when bacon is added. We’d say that simplicity is one of the touchstones of SodaBotlleOpnerWala. They give life to the food we tend to cook in our homes. This simplicity was very well exhibited in their new dish called boiled egg sandwich. The sandwich not only tasted healthy but was actually healthy considering the homely ingredients it bore like pudina chutney. We also tried their new Chicken Soup for the Bambaiyya Soul. The soup is the perfect comfort food one needs on those chilly nights. You guys, Winter is coming and we urge you to try this soup out before it’s too late.

Carnivores Bhel

For drinks we went for the all new bombay julep and The BumSuckerWala . Bombay Julep has to be the prettiest drink we have ever come across. Served in the Julep glass garnished with mint leaves and fuchsia coloured flowers, the drink was refreshing and had the right amount of alcohol hit to it. The BumSuckerWala has raspberry, vodka and thyme in it and is berrylicious good.

For Main Course we ate their freshly made Chicken Biryani which was cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender pink and juicy. We also had their new Khattu Meethu Pumpkin Sabzi with a Parantha which was extremely soft and melted in the mouth. The presentation of each dish was worthy of taking a picture. We must say that SodaBotlleOpnerWala slay the presentations of their dishes.

Chicken Biryani

With hardly any place left in our stomachs we had to devour their new heavenly desserts. We tried the very new Matunga Coffee Cake which was baked like our mothers used to do it when there were no ovens. Baked with a the help of a water bath in tin moulds was absolutely lip smacking. The coffee flavour was singing in our mouths till the end and is a must try from their new menu. We also had the Chocolate PeanutButter Cheesecake which tasted more like a deconstructed snickers was delicious. We called it a day with Orange and White Chocolate cake which was served with Vanilla Ice Cream which was the perfect ending to our little culinary rendezvous that evening.

As you all can tell Team Salt and Sandals is  all praises for the new menu at the SodaBottleOpnerWala and we recommend our readers to check it out at the earliest. The new menu is now available across all the outlets.

Often listed amongst the best beaches in the world, Anse Lazio in Praslin, Seychelles truly open gates to altogether new world. And let me tell you, reaching here was quite a journey. One has to reach the bottom of the hill to Zimbabwe either by car or bus, then one has to trek over a large forested jungle clad hill and along some way before you reach the beach. But the journey is well worth the effort with views that take your breath away perfect with fine white sands and gorgeous turquoise waters that are so clear you can watch the fish swim around you, it's no surprise Anse Lazio is frequently called 'the best beach in the world'.

We headed to the @Takamaka Rum Seychelles distillery with @Creole Travel Services where we fell in love with the slow pace, exquisite beach and two barrel aged rums. The Extra Dark is aged twice, first in French Oak and then in reused Bourbon casks for three years and the St. Andre which has been aged for eight years in American Bourbon casks. The Dakshin Yatra, Flavours from the South at crowneplazaokhla features a plethora of authentic flavours from the region.  For Starters: The scrumptious Paniyarams, both Savory and sweet ,medu Vada, Idiyappam with chicken curry and Idli with a plethora of chutneys to choose from coconut, raw mango, coriander and beetroot. Savour the curd rice with a wide range of non-vegetarian and vegetarian achaars (pickle's) including mutton, chicken , tuna, raw mango and karela.  In the mains, there is Pineapple and tomato rasam, Meen manga curry(fish), Kari krassi ( chicken), and variety of other vegetarian and non-vegetarian curry dishes from Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andhrapradesh accompanied with papadam and a choice of steam rice or mutton biryani and some regional breads like Kothu parantha.  In the desserts, along with Mysore halwa there was gur ka payasam  The festival is on till 30th June 2024 at Edesia. It is only available for dinner 7:00- 11:00 pm and priced at INR 2799 ++.
The Indori food festival at @crowneplazaokhla features a plethora of authentic flavours from the region.  For Starters: The very famous Johnny hot dog( Anda bun), Poha, kachori, Jalebi, bhute ki khees, Indori style Dal Bati churma , Neemach Street tawa which has Kidney, Liver and Goat brain ( bheja fry) marinated and cooked on the Tawa, along with vegetarian option like stuffed capsicum, green chilli and potatoes. A range of  Pakoras featuring Dal Pakora, samosa which taste amazing with the Garlic Tomato chutney. Savour the golgappas with a wide range of flavoured water including hing, lehsun, pudina and mitha pani.  In the mains, there is Paya soup, Khassi ka meat, khada chicken, paneer, dal ,aloo ki sabji accompanied with papad and a choice of steam rice or chicken biryani and some regional breads.  In the desserts, along with Malpua Rabri there was laung lata, Gulab jamun and moong dal ka halwa  The festival is on till 19th May 2024 at Edesia.
