Sunday Brunch always bring in the pleasure of waking up late on a holiday and enjoying something different and lavish for a day and to be treated like a king, which after working hard for 6 days and running in this rat race one deserves.
New York Café or popularly known as NYC in Radisson blu, Mahipalpur is one of my most favorite places to dig into when I want to experience a lavish and deliciously awesome brunch and savour on cuisines from all over world. This month they have organised a special theme for Sunday brunch at NYC and it is geared towards the Mediterranean food. Being an ardent follower of this cuisine we couldn’t resist to try this on a recent bright and cheerful Sunday afternoon. Mediterranean food is primarily cooked in olive oil and other ingredients are based on fresh produce like vegetables, lean meat and sea food. Flavor wise it is subtle and herb based rather than heavy with strong spices.
Food Talks
We started off with their signature Turkish soup Chorba. The spices in it completely coats on your tastebuds, making it a flavour which is long lasting. After this we decided to try out some crispy falafels from their live kitchen. The chickpea gives you a hit of fibre and the perfect balance of salt and other spices makes it a delight for your tastebuds.
Further we also tried the Cotolette di Melanzane Fritte. Eggplant and Mozzarella fitters together form a lip smacking combination. Shish taouk and Simit kebabi further enthralled us. Shish taouk had the traditional middle eastern marination which gave it earthy and smokey flavours. On other hand Simit Kebabi was something new for my palate. Minced meat was combined to perfection with spices and herb and then chargrilled. They had a wide variety of breads in all possible shape, sizes and flavors. It included the traditional Pita bread which complimented well with Hummus, babaganoush and tzatziki dip.
I ended my meal with Chicken Shawarma with some Baba Ganoush and Mushroom ravioli in pastry crust was a photogenic dish. It was light and fluffy and had perfect balance of flavour.
